snd_soc_dai_set_tdm_slot with slot=0 broken since 6.12.31 kernel

Hello, Since Raspberry Pi's kernel version 6.12.31, I noticed that snd_soc_dai_set_tdm_slot returns -EINVAL when slots=0 is provided to the function, even though it's a documented legal use case: * TDM mode can be disabled by passing 0 for @slots. In this case @tx_mask, * @rx_mask and @slot_width will be ignored. https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/v6.12.31/source/sound/soc/soc-dai.c#L260 The issue was introduced by this commit: https://lore.kernel.org/all/87o6z7yk61.wl-kuninori.morimoto.gx@renesas.com/… Which adds checking of snd_soc_xlate_tdm_slot_mask result which is -EINVAL in case of slots=0, therefore stopping the snd_soc_dai_set_tdm_slot execution. The 6.12.30 was still fine: https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/v6.12.30/source/sound/soc/soc-dai.c#L281 I would suggest skipping the xlate call in case slots is 0 in snd_soc_dai_set_tdm_slot. alsabat: fills /tmp until out of memory

alsa-project/alsa-utils issue #301 was opened from eurofun: alsabat creates its capture file by using mkstemp() in bat.c. So it creates a new file under /tmp each time it runs (at least when configured to capture something...) and never removes any until no space is left. I propose it should by default delete the files it opened after analysis and keep the current behavior as an option in order to allow inspecting captured files after alsabat ran. [Bug] Internal microphone not working on ASUS VivoBook (ALC256, Ubuntu 24.04+, kernel 6.x)

Dear ALSA Developers, I'm writing to report an issue affecting the internal microphone on the ASUS VivoBook (11th Gen Intel i7, audio codec: Realtek ALC256) under Ubuntu 24.04 LTS using kernel 6.x. Summary: - Internal microphone is detected by ALSA and PipeWire (input device is listed, RUNNING state) - Volume and boost levels are at 100%, not muted - However, no sound is recorded — mic is completely silent - External USB microphones work fine on the same system What I’ve tested: - Ubuntu 24.04 default kernel 6.11 → internal mic not working - Mainline kernel 6.15 via mainline tool → still not working - Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel 5.x, likely 5.4 or 5.15 HWE) → **internal mic was working fine** This suggests a regression or pin configuration issue in recent kernels affecting ALC256 on this laptop. Dear ALSA Developers, I’m reporting an issue with the internal microphone on an ASUS VivoBook (11th Gen Intel Core i7, Realtek ALC256 codec) running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. The internal mic is detected by ALSA and PulseAudio/PipeWire, but no audio input is captured, even with max gain and boost. I have tested it on both Ubuntu's default kernel (6.11) and mainline kernel 6.15 — the issue persists. ALSA detects the codec, and the input pin (0x12) appears to be present, but remains silent.
