[alsa-devel] ALSA does not detect the built-in microphone on HP EliteBook 850 G6

Hello!
ALSA does not detect the built-in microphone on HP EliteBook 850 G6 with
Ubuntu 19.10 Kenrel 5.3.0-27-generic
I tried to specify the following "options snd-hda-intel model" in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf :
- *laptop-amic*,* laptop-dmic* - a recording device has appeared but it
does not work. LED of MicMute on hardware button is always ON
- *auto*, *3stack*,* hp-gpio4*,* hp-gpio-led*, *hp-dock-pins*,
*hp-dock-gpio-mic*, *hp-9480m*, *alc280-hp-headset*,
*alc221-hp-mic*, *hp-rp5800
*- there is no audio recorder in the system. LED of MicMute on hardware
button is always ON
- *hp-gpio2-hotkey *- there is no audio recorder in the system. LED of
MicMute on hardware button is always OFF
Can you help set up ALSA to work with the specified laptop?
If necessary, I can compile and install the necessary patches and send work
logs.

[alsa-devel] Applied "ASoC: max98090: Drop incorrectly applied duplicate commit" to the asoc tree
by Mark Brown 10 Jan '20
by Mark Brown 10 Jan '20
10 Jan '20
The patch
ASoC: max98090: Drop incorrectly applied duplicate commit
has been applied to the asoc tree at
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound.git
All being well this means that it will be integrated into the linux-next
tree (usually sometime in the next 24 hours) and sent to Linus during
the next merge window (or sooner if it is a bug fix), however if
problems are discovered then the patch may be dropped or reverted.
You may get further e-mails resulting from automated or manual testing
and review of the tree, please engage with people reporting problems and
send followup patches addressing any issues that are reported if needed.
If any updates are required or you are submitting further changes they
should be sent as incremental updates against current git, existing
patches will not be replaced.
Please add any relevant lists and maintainers to the CCs when replying
to this mail.
Thanks,
Mark

In stm32_afsdm_pcm_cb function, the transfer size is provided in bytes.
However, samples are copied as 16 bits words from iio buffer.
Divide by two the transfer size, to copy the right number of samples.
Fixes: 1e7f6e1c69f0 ("ASoC: stm32: dfsdm: add 16 bits audio record support")

These are for-v5.6 branch, but it will have conflict
if you merged to for-v5.5 branch.
These are based on for-5.5 + for-5.6 branch.

[alsa-devel] [PATCH 1/2] ASoC: max98090: fix incorrect helper in max98090_dapm_put_enum_double()
by Marek Szyprowski 10 Jan '20
by Marek Szyprowski 10 Jan '20
10 Jan '20
Commit 62d5ae4cafb7 ("ASoC: max98090: save and restore SHDN when changing
sensitive registers") extended the code for handling "LTENL Mux", "LTENR
Mux", "LBENL Mux" and "LBENR Mux" controls by adding a custom
max98090_dapm_put_enum_double() function to them. However that function
used incorrect helper to get its component object. Fix this by using the
proper snd_soc_dapm_* helper.
This fixes the following NULL pointer exception observed on
Exynos4412-based Odroid U3 board:
8<--- cut here ---
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 000000b0

[alsa-devel] [PATCH v6 1/2] PCI: Add a helper to check Power Resource Requirements _PR3 existence
by Kai-Heng Feng 10 Jan '20
by Kai-Heng Feng 10 Jan '20

A driver may want to know the existence of _PR3, to choose different
runtime suspend behavior. A user will be add in next patch.
This is mostly the same as nouveau_pr3_present().

[alsa-devel] Bug report for changes in ucm2 with chtrt5645 card on Lenovo Miix 320
by Tim Schumacher 10 Jan '20
by Tim Schumacher 10 Jan '20
10 Jan '20
Hi alsa devs,
I'm on Arch Linux on a rather uncommon laptop (Lenovo Miix 320) and my sound
stopped working on the upgrade from alsa-lib 1.1.9 to 1.2.1. wabbits on
IRC helped me track down the problem to a change in the
/usr/share/alsa/ucm (now /usr/share/alsa/ucm2) files. It seems like
/usr/share/alsa/ucm2/chtrt5645/HiFi-dmic2.conf and a symlink at
/usr/share/alsa/ucm2/chtrt5645/LENOVO-80XF-LenovoMIIX320_10ICR-LNVNB161216.conf
were specifically added for this laptop but in the contrary they break the
sound for me.
After the upgrade to alsa-lib 1.2.1 the sound is not working. The commands play no sound:
pasuspender -- speaker-test --nloops=1 --channels=2 --test=wav --device=hw:0,0
pasuspender -- speaker-test --nloops=1 --channels=2 --test=wav --device=hw:0,1
And this is the alsa-info.sh output http://alsa-project.org/db/?f=f883910a5c5101b4b1ea4202d1fe84ccd139f796
After deleting the /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/chtrt5645/LENOVO-80XF-LenovoMIIX320_10ICR-LNVNB161216.conf
symlink both commands from above play sound and this is the alsa-info.sh
output http://alsa-project.org/db/?f=e759eb9118a191b6c3b8c021fed58abc9cf95076
Thanks.
