Hi everyone
I would like to know current state of the RME HDSP RPM support. There
was a thread [1] in 2008 on this list about the issue and things looked
promising back then. However, I'm still unable to upload the firmware
with alsa-driver from git on my Ubuntu 11.04 (32bit) machine with a
2.6.38 kernel. I posted a detailed description of the issue on the
alsa-user list here [2].
Is it supposed to work with Cardbus? If not, is there something I can do
to help support it?
Any hints appreciated.

Not surprisingly, there are yet a few more patches for HD-audio.
All patches are found in for-next branch of sound git tree as usual.

it took me some time, but I finally got a proper equipment to test ALC886
SPDIF input. (hw:1,1,0)
The test results show that the input is not "source synchronous"
experiment:
Analog->digital (spdif,toslink) Audio converter box, where internal crystal
is removed and replaced with precision adjustable PLL-based gen.
2 simple independent sinus audio generators, providing audio source for ADC
L,R inputs
software:
stream consequent samples (L,R) are compared.
frequency of identical consequent samples (32bits) is calculated (ppm)
results:
crystal marking is: 12288000 = 256*48kHz
gen. Hz | gen. ppm | duplicate probability (ppm)

It seams that my HDA clock is a bit slower then definition ( about -10ppm)
Therefore resampling starts below -10ppm
It probably means that when spdif signal is 0ppm, about 10ppm of samples are
missing.
Is this a bug? or it is planed like this?
Is this a software problem or hardware problem (codec or DMA sequencer) or
configuration problem?
since it is not a real resampling (no signal reconstruction takes place)
samples are just repeated or skipped,
it seams not right to me.
Who could comment on this?

I tested out S/PDIF input on my ALC262 setup some time ago.
What I found, at the time, was that the data capture did appear
to be driven by the rate of the incoming signal. My outboard
ADC provides a 44100 sample/second rate, and that seemed to be
what I was getting. I tried forcing the capture to 48000 samples
per second, and saw no difference in the captured file size... the
number of samples per second actually captured seemed to be the
same (within experimental error) and I didn't see any evidence
of resampling going on.
Now, this was a capture with "hw:Intel,1" as the device. I
expect that I would have seen resampling, and a different
type of delivery if I had specified "plughw:Intel,1" or some
other input style which had gone through the plug interface.
Unfortunately I don't have any way of generating a CD-rate
data stream with a specific set of known values... I'd need
a CD player with an S/PDIF output and I don't have one of
those handy. If I can figure out a way of doing this I'll
try generating a set of CDs with a known-value pattern, play
it, capture it, and see if it does or does not exactly
correlate.

Hello,
I would like to improve MC13783 driver to be able to control bypass of
LineIn (RXINR/L) and feed Analog LineIn stream into ouput Mixer via
ADDRXIN flag.
This first step one is for test purpose but I also need to select
RXINR/L as capture source (I saw in RM that CODEC must be enabled and
only RXINR flag must be selected as input) but nothing seems to be
captured this is why I need bypass working to test input level, and so on.
I try to create a Mixer based on other driver but it doesn't work.
I try to finc information about widget macro SND_SOC_DAPM_* but it is
hard to find something relevant.
* Which widgets can be link together ?
* Is there functional difference between VIRT and non-VIRT widget ?
I will post my code in some minutes after clean-up.

This patch-set is tested on Davinci platform (DA850 EVM). This series applies on
top of tag next-20130103 git tree

This is because dma is not yet completely ported to Davinci ASoC. I had to add

Did you mean when it worked? Was it before moving to the generic
parser, or after it but before upgrading to the latest tree?
In the latter case, try git bisection to figure out the culprit.
But, it's anyway better to update the git branch. You are testing the
too old version (there have been already 75 commits after your testing
one).

OK, so the unsol event is generated properly.
Is the alsa-info.sh output you attached previously at the state after
unplugging? If so, I see no problem in the code register. The path
0x04 -> 0x29 -> 0x12 looks fine, all unmuted, power D0 and the pin set
properly.
If something doesn't work as expected, we need two alsa-info outputs
for comparison: the working one and non-working one.
