Thanks a lot! :) I realize, it's a "workaround" rather than real solution, but this made Audigy suitable for VOIP (I tried the highest value of 0x0f0f). I've got a feeling, it could be even set in release this way for all the Audigy owners, until the final solution of DSP-related issues will take place, because it doesn't seem to spoil anything (although I didn't made much testing of all the available options yet). Hello The VT1618 codec has a register value that turns on the Surround Side Output (it's off by default) I have implemented the control, but I am getting a really weird result, i have a bogus 'Item1' that shouldnt exist: jutz-gntdv alsa-driver # amixer sset Side On Simple mixer control 'Side',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch enum Items: 'On' 'Off' Item0: 'On' Item1: 'On' jutz-gntdv alsa-driver # amixer sset Side Off Simple mixer control 'Side',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch enum Items: 'On' 'Off' Item0: 'Off' Item1: 'On' This wasnt always there, it just showed up during development. [alsa-devel] [Regression] snd-hda-intel no longer loads as of alsa-driver-hg20070728

Hi list, snd-hda-intel does no longer load on my Dell XPS M1710 using alsa-driver-hg20070728. However it works without apparent problems with alsa-driver-hg20070727. I'm running 2.6.22.1-cfs-v19 on a SuSE 10.2 x86_64. Find attached an excerpt from /var/log/messages first loading hg20070727 followed by hg20070728. If you need additional info drop me a note. [alsa-devel] Recent code changes for HD-audio on HG repo

Hi, right now I committed a series of patches for HD-audio driver to HG repository. There are two big changes: - The suspend/resume code is rewritten Now the driver uses cached register values to restore the last status. It's much cleaner than the previous code, and should work better. But, I couldn't test it on all existing laptops. So, please test and report any positive/negative feedbacks. - New POWER_SAVE kconfig The driver has POWER_SAVE confiugration. When enabled (it's so if you build from alsa-driver tree), the driver turns off the codec and the controller chips when not used, and turn on again dynamically on demand. Good for laptops, good for mother earth! :) The feature can be enabled/diabled even on the fly via "power_save" module option of snd-hda-intel. For disabling it, write 0 to /sys/modules/snd_hda_intel/parameters/power_save for disabling it, or pass power_save=0 in modprobe option (or its configuration). Again, please give any positive/negative feedbacks, as I couldn't test many devices. thanks, Takashi

Hi, It looks like the doxygen-generated documentation lacks the pcm/pcm_empty.c bit. Since the default plugin uses empty as plugin, it's useful to have docs for it. I tested Fedora 8 on my ThinkPad 600X. The 600X has a CS4264, and F8 uses a 2.6.23 kernel (I forget the version at the moment). The sound does not work after resume. How should I check whether the fix for this issue is included in a kernel? Version number? Thanks, Chris

Hallo, I've got a problem with Audigy (it's SB0230 release) soundcard: the recording level, when taking the sound from microphone, is much too low. I've sent a mail to "users" list, so here I'm just pointing to that mail: http://www.mail-archive.com/alsa-user@lists.sourceforge.net/msg20235.html ...and so I won't repeat it all here. (I made a mistake in the subject there, writing about "Audigy2") My card is seen by 1.0.14 ALSA as ( cat /proc/asound/cards ): 0 [Audigy ]: Audigy - Audigy 1 [Unknown] Audigy 1 [Unknown] (rev.3, serial:0x5a1102) at 0xc400, irq 11 As I understand, there is some variable (or register?), which controls that recording level for microphone input - perhaps someone of the developers could tell me, which variable is it, and which file should I search? In such way perhaps I could fix it on my own - just by setting higher max. level, or in similar way. But searching all that files on my own could take serious amount of time, I'm afraid. Hi Any inside info about C-Media 8788 support, i see that repository contains some sort of driver for it, but what state is it, is it working as wiki says its about 35% done. Happy to know also if its going for Linux 2.6.23 kernel? I think lot of people would be happy to get it to kernel soon as possible as it seems Creative has serious delays about x-fi driver (i wonder if there will be any Linux support at all, not looking good) and many people are thinking about Razer barracuda AC-1 or Auzentech X-Meridean which uses C-Media 8788 chipset.
