Hi, I have been driving fluidsynth with with aplaymidi and get the following: fluidsynth: ALSAsequencer buffer overrun, lost event. I have played around with buffer size and buffer number and also run with and without jackd. The sound out doesn't seem to be affect. Can anyone give me some guidance on how to eliminate the error. Could the error be caused by fluidsynth? I have also run the program on PS2/Yellowdog linux and CCRMA fc5 (x86) both with similar results. Thanks. John

Tobin, Unfortunately, ACPI was on at all times. My laptop hardly ever boots without ACPI (randomly, the SATA driver fails before it can even mount the root partition). I ran some more tests today: I loaded Ubuntu Edgy from the live CD where the sound chip used to work (kernel 2.6.17, alsa driver 1.0.12rc1). Obviously the sound works straight away. From there , I ran the same series of test: download and build (--with-debug=detect) the next version of alsa-driver, run a capture from mic and try playing it back, check syslog and run alsa-info.sh. I did this for successive versions of alsa-driver (starting with 1.0.12) until it fails. All I get on the left channel is a loud screeching noise followed by a pop when the audio turns off. The microphon jack don't work also. The platform_device allocated by platform_device_alloc() should be added to the device hierarchy by platform_device_add() instead of platform_device_register(). Otherwise it will hit WARN_ON() in platform_device_register(). by illegal refcount. This patch fixes such incorrect usages in portman2x4 and mts64 drivers. Also it removes unnecessary trailing whitespaces.
