If snd_hdac_device_register() fails, 'codec' and name allocated in dev_set_name() called in snd_hdac_device_init() are leaked. Fix this by calling put_device(), so they can be freed in snd_hda_codec_dev_release() and kobject_cleanup(). Lenovo Thinkbook 14+ 2022 (ThinkBook 14 G4+ ARA) uses Ryzen 6000 processor, and has the same microphone problem as other ThinkPads with AMD Ryzen 6000 series CPUs, which has been listed in https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216267. Adding 21D0 to quirks table solves this microphone problem for ThinkBook 14 G4+ ARA. [PATCH 00/10] ALSA/ASoC: hda: cleanup sound/hda/ext code

The code in sound/hda/ext can be cleaned-up. This patchset suggests a more consistent use of prefixes and variable names. It also removes useless code, uses helpers when possible, and clarifies an incorrect assumption that SPIB/DRMS capabilities are tied to Intel multi-link and DSP extensions (they are not). This is a rather invasive set of changes touching sound/hda, sound/soc/intel/skylake, sound/soc/intel/avs and sound/soc/sof/intel, but there should be no change in terms of functionality. I would recommend merging these changes through the ASoC tree. Szmigiero" <maciej.szmigiero(a)oracle.com> I've noticed that some of mixer controls on my sound card seem to be partially broken on the 6.0 kernel - alsactl wasn't able to find them when restoring the mixer state. The issue was traced down to the recent addition of hashed controls lookup in commit c27e1efb61c5 ("ALSA: control: Use xarray for faster lookups"). Since that commit it is *not* enough to just directly update the control name field (like some of ALSA drivers were doing). Now the hash entries for the modified control have to be updated too. This patch set adds a snd_ctl_rename() function that takes care of doing this operation properly for callers that already have the relevant struct snd_kcontrol at hand and hold the control write lock (or simply haven't registered the card yet). These prerequisites hold true for all the call sites modified. The core controls change and the emu10k1 patch were runtime tested. Disconnecting certain USB interfaces causes the sound card to go away

Hi ALSA devs, I work on Android and starting from Android T, we use libusb to connect to an MIDI peripheral when Android is in host mode. We do this by opening the device, disconnecting the kernel MIDI interface, claiming the MIDI interface, and using its endpoints. However, we started getting bug reports from customers that some USB peripherals stop playing audio once MIDI is opened. Disconnecting the kernel MIDI interface with USBDEVFS_DISCONNECT causes the USB sound card to disappear for some devices. I tested with 6 USB interfaces with both MIDI and audio and I found the following. 1. I can disconnect the Audio Control, Audio Streaming, and Midi Streaming interfaces on the Komplete Audio 6 and the Alesis iO4 without the sound card disappearing. 2. I can disconnect the Audio Streaming and MIDI Streaming interfaces on the PreSonus USB 96 without the sound card disappearing. Disconnecting the Audio Control interface causes the sound card to disappear. 3. I can disconnect the Audio Streaming interface on the PreSonus Studio 26c, Yamaha AG06, and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 without the sound card disappearing. Disconnecting the Audio Control or MIDI Streaming interfaces causes the sound card to disappear. After calling USBDEVFS_RESET, the sound cards come back up. Does anyone know why certain USB peripherals do not handle USBDEVFS_DISCONNECT cleanly on certain interfaces? Thanks, Robert
