[PATCH] ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: use snd_sof_dsp_set_power_state() op

Replace the calls to hda_dsp_set_power_state() with the top-level SOF op snd_sof_set_power_state(). Along with this, modify the hda_dsp_resume() function to return the value of snd_sof_set_power_state() directly. alsa-lib 1.2.2 kills my unity3d games

Sorry if this has already been reported, but I only really subscribed to report this bug, and nothing recent in the archive jumped out at me. Some time after Jan 12, some change in my (Gentoo Linux) system caused 67 of my 72 commercial, closed-source unity3d games to crash on startup. gdb was no help, but strace showed alsa activity before two crashes, and, sure enough, reverting alsa-lib to 1.2.1.2 cured it. I bisected to this commit (5ee5ef31b "namehint: correct the @args check"): https://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-lib.git;a=blobdiff;f=src/control/nameh… I don't know what the exact problem is, but reverting just this commit was enough to make everything work again (and its later modification in 6055f8a58 which doesn't make sense looking at the code as the function always returns 0 and str may still be NULL on exit, but adding a check for NULL str is not enough to stop unity3d from crashing).

[alsa-devel] No sound with Realtek ALC298 on a Samsung Galaxy book

Dear ALSA community, I just bought a Samsung Galaxy book 12" laptop and I installed the latest Fedora version (31) on it. Unfortunately when I try to listen something there is absolutely no sound from speaker nor headsets. I checked that volumes of the different channels were max. I also checked for muting system but I didn't found anything. Of course it works perfectly under Windows. I saw on internet that many ALC298 users had troubles with it. I tried different options to the intel hda driver (especially the model one) but it changes nothing. alsa-project/alsa-lib issue #27 was reopened from DarkWav: So, today after upgrading to alsa-lib 1.2.2 I noticed the game "Shovel Knight" does no longer launch. Any Ideas why this could be happening? Sadly steam or the game executable won't provide any usable debug info when looking at terminal output :( . Can I maybe use GDB to gather more info or is that useless in this case? [PATCH] ASoC: dapm: Correct DAPM handling of active widgets during shutdown

commit c2caa4da46a4 ("ASoC: Fix widget powerdown on shutdown") added a set of the power state during snd_soc_dapm_shutdown to ensure the widgets powered off. However, when commit 39eb5fd13dff ("ASoC: dapm: Delay w->power update until the changes are written") added the new_power member of the widget structure, to differentiate between the current power state and the target power state, it did not update the shutdown to use the new_power member. As new_power has not updated it will be left in the state set by the last DAPM sequence, ie. 1 for active widgets. So as the DAPM sequence for the shutdown proceeds it will turn the widgets on (despite them already being on) rather than turning them off.
