Hi! I've been doing randconfig build tests for quite a while, here's a pile of fixes. I'm not sure what's the best way to submit these: do you folks prefer a series like this, or a number of individual submissions? With these applied, it seems that archs I run (64-bit x86 arm riscv) are clean now -- at least for the values of "haven't failed build in a while". My restrictions were: [amd64] CONFIG_64BIT=y CONFIG_COMPILE_TEST=y CONFIG_AIC79XX_BUILD_FIRMWARE=n CONFIG_AIC7XXX_BUILD_FIRMWARE=n [arm64] CONFIG_AIC79XX_BUILD_FIRMWARE=n CONFIG_AIC7XXX_BUILD_FIRMWARE=n [riscv64] !CONFIG_ARCH_RV32I=y #yay "selects" CONFIG_CMODEL_MEDANY=y CONFIG_BPF_PRELOAD_UMD=n CONFIG_AIC79XX_BUILD_FIRMWARE=n CONFIG_AIC7XXX_BUILD_FIRMWARE=n and applied fixes for dwc3-qcom riscv_cbom_block_size dump_emit_page riscv:jump_label. All builds were done with gcc-12 on Debian unstable. Szmigiero" <maciej.szmigiero(a)oracle.com> I've noticed that some of mixer controls on my sound card seem to be partially broken on the 6.0 kernel - alsactl wasn't able to find them when restoring the mixer state. The issue was traced down to the recent addition of hashed controls lookup in commit c27e1efb61c5 ("ALSA: control: Use xarray for faster lookups"). Since that commit it is *not* enough to just directly update the control name field (like some of ALSA drivers were doing). Now the hash entries for the modified control have to be updated too. This patch set adds a snd_ctl_rename() function that takes care of doing this operation properly for callers that already have the relevant struct snd_kcontrol at hand and hold the control write lock (or simply haven't registered the card yet). These prerequisites hold true for all the call sites modified. The core controls change and the emu10k1 patch were runtime tested. Disconnecting certain USB interfaces causes the sound card to go away

Hi ALSA devs, I work on Android and starting from Android T, we use libusb to connect to an MIDI peripheral when Android is in host mode. We do this by opening the device, disconnecting the kernel MIDI interface, claiming the MIDI interface, and using its endpoints. However, we started getting bug reports from customers that some USB peripherals stop playing audio once MIDI is opened. Disconnecting the kernel MIDI interface with USBDEVFS_DISCONNECT causes the USB sound card to disappear for some devices. I tested with 6 USB interfaces with both MIDI and audio and I found the following. 1. I can disconnect the Audio Control, Audio Streaming, and Midi Streaming interfaces on the Komplete Audio 6 and the Alesis iO4 without the sound card disappearing. 2. I can disconnect the Audio Streaming and MIDI Streaming interfaces on the PreSonus USB 96 without the sound card disappearing. Disconnecting the Audio Control interface causes the sound card to disappear. 3. I can disconnect the Audio Streaming interface on the PreSonus Studio 26c, Yamaha AG06, and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 without the sound card disappearing. Disconnecting the Audio Control or MIDI Streaming interfaces causes the sound card to disappear. After calling USBDEVFS_RESET, the sound cards come back up. Does anyone know why certain USB peripherals do not handle USBDEVFS_DISCONNECT cleanly on certain interfaces? Thanks, Robert

alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf pull request #232 was opened from nodens: Without it, at least on some recent tar version, it won't work: --wildcards is the default only for exclusions, not for member selection. [PATCH 0/8] ASoC: Intel: avs: PCM power management

Goal of the series is implementation of suspend/resume operations for a PCM stream along with all the collaterals connected to the subject. Start with splitting avs_dai_fe_hw_free() as ideally we would like to reuse as much of existing code as possible but snd_pcm_lib_free_pages() is not desired part of the function when speaking of suspend operation. The actual implementation of suspend/resume() for component drivers follows. For most scenarios, the PM flow is similar to standard streaming one, except for the part where the position register are being saved and the lack of PCM pages freeing. To reduce code duplication, all avs_dai_suspend_XXX() and avs_dai_resume_XXX() functions reuse their non-PM equivalents. Order of operations is affected by the fact that path binding/unbinding happens only in FE part of the stream. Above essentially unlocks SX+streaming scenarios i.e.: power transitions with an ongoing stream. As some streams are allowed to run in low power state, support is provided for S0iX state. The handlers check ACPI capabilities and the number of active low-power paths before deciding between SX and S0iX flows. The last portion of the patchset is addition of power/clock gating overrides. There is no single set of registers that ensures AudioDSP firmware loads 100% of time on every single configuration. By having them exposed, user can have the loading procedure behavior adjusted for their configuration without having to recompile the kernel. The patchset fixes: - Line In path stays powered off during capturing or bypass to mixer. - incorrectly represented dB values in alsamixer, et al. - incorrect represented Capture input selector in alsamixer in Playback tab. - wrong control selected as Capture Master The patchset improves: - Exposes output stage (post mixer) gain control and makes it new Master playback gain, DAC gain was the previous master. However, no Master mute now. - Exposes all mixer inputs (both Mics, LineIn and DAC) with their gain controls. - Exposes microphones widgets: single/differential input, boost. Known issues: - Bypass path enablement isn't applied immediately, for make things going bit clock needs to be triggered for a bit, e.g. by aplay dummy.wav It might be a hardware bug, since the bit clock isn't declared as required for codec operation. Tested on: - Ritmix RZX-27 (jz4725b). - Ritmix RZX-50 (jz4755). If snd_hdac_device_register() fails, 'codec' is leaked, free it in snd_hdac_device_exit(). And device_initialize() is called in snd_hdac_device_init(), it should call put_device() to give up reference or the name allocated in dev_set_name() is leaked.
