This patch fixes a bug whereby AC97 bus device data was being clobbered when AC97 codecs using the generic ac97_codec.c driver were being registered. Codecs that didn't use the generic driver were unaffected (e.g. WM9712, WM9713). Changes:- o Add new AC97 codec class for custom (or need bus dev registration) AC97 codecs. o Only register/deregister this custom codec device with the AC97 bus. The generic AC97 driver already does this for generic codec devices. Just a recap: I verifyed using dos the settings (hwset and volset - default and save), and used the bios to set "IRQ 5" as "ISA Legacy". It's interesting that when I plug in a headphone or an external microphone, the build in headphone and microphone will not work. Is it a driver feature or the hardware do it? Can anyone give some clue? I'd like to see the code but don't know how to start. Please give me help. Thx!

I have test all modes for alc883. The result is here: 0. 3stack-dig. both extern/internal can play, but can't record sound 1. 3stack-6ch-dig same with 3stack-dig 2. 3stack-6ch can play, but can't record sound. Can hear noise from the Mic. 3. 6stack-dig both can play sound, can't record sound 4. tarta-dig With alsamixer, can set to 2ch or 6ch, both can play sound, can't 5. tarta-2ch-dig both can play sound, can't record sound. 6. 6stack-dig-demo both can play sound, can't record sound. 7. aser both can play sound, can't record sound 8. medion can't play sound 9. laptop-eapd can play sound, but can't record sound 10. lenovo-101e both can play sound, can't record sound 11. auto both can play sound, and can record sound. But the sound quality is too bad to use from the internel Mic. After test it a while on switching the extern/internal Mic, the quality both droped. So I use lenovo-101e model, ( rebuild the driver, rmmod/insmod, use alsamixer to adjust the limits). Then I use auto mode, and the sound record work again from external Mic. After I switch to internel Mic, the quality droped again. Do you have any idea about it? [alsa-devel] alsa-driver-1.0.14rc3 won't compile with kernel 2.6.20.3 when Processor family is Core2

Laptop has Pentium Dual Core and Intel HD Audio Kernel is 2.6.20.3 compiled for Processor family Core2. In-kernel alsa drivers are 1.0.14rc3 (cat /proc/asound/version) and compile ok. In-kernel drivers do not work for this sound card. Downloaded 1.0.14rc3 and applied patch_realtek.c ./configure --prefix=/usr --with-cards=hda-intel "make" gives the following error: make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.20.3' > /usr/src/linux-2.6.20.3/Makefile:491: > /usr/src/linux-2.6.20.3/arch//Makefile: No such file or directory If the kernel is compiled with Processor family = Pentium M, the external alsa drivers compile clean and the soundcard works. So, Processor family = Core2 cannot be selected when using external alsa-driver-1.0.14rc3. Chris Pemberton

[alsa-devel] Problem with ALSA Capture and Playback : start_delay

Why start_delay=1 for capture and start_delay=0 for playback what this means I have one app which does both capture and playback, but when i tried to read ALSA buffer(capture) periodically it gives ALSa buffer overflow error. what my app does is read from ALSA (capture mic) and write to ALSA(playback). In this case for both Capture and Playback setting i am using start_delay = 0. But if i am giving some delay between Read and Write no overflow error happens Any idea why this happens Thanks

I already installed dos + the drivers and ubuntu, So I'll try working with that. As far as I can tell from the win95 driver name, the "AzTech Sound Galaxy Nova 16 Extra II-3D - using AZT-2316/R Chipset - FCC-ID:I38-MMSN846" is full-duplex : In : http://www.aztech.com/support_download_soundcard01.html : 2316FD95.ZIP 90,526 Windows 95 Full Duplex Audio Driver Version 4.8.0 Build 1128 I will try working with the software first, then probably either the epprom or the jumper (since I have dos + drivers working I'm tempted to try the epprom first ;-) ) I can't at the moment compile in that machine (My poor little xubuntu is barely working as it is, I don't even dare installing samba let alone a dev-env of any sorts..., maybe when I'll get everything working I'll install slackware, I decided gentoo is not a good idea ;-) ) so I won't be testing your drivers any time soon :-( , I do however hope you'll submit your drivers cause a non PnP driver can't hurt and waiting for confirms on such old hw will be point-less... Hello alsa devs, I have an old "AzTech Sound Galaxy Nova 16 Extra II-3D - using AZT-2316/R Chipset - FCC-ID:I38-MMSN846" which I know to work on windows 2000 natively and on other windows using drivers from http://www.aztech.com/support_download_soundcard01.html, however, I was unsuccessful in using it in linux ( I tried many dists, but my most recent failure was with xubuntu 7.04 which have the most recent alsa). I believe the card is unsupported in alsa and I was hoping someone might be free to help me with this legacy card ? Since the card is unsupported I figured this should go the devs. * Their is this piece of code which might be relevant: http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/lxr/source/sound/isa/azt2320.c 21 This driver should provide support for most Aztech AZT2320 based cards. 22 Several AZT2316 chips are also supported/tested, but autoprobe doesn't 23 work: all module option have to be set. * I'm unsure of what it means to configure manually or how to do so... I do however have the card working currently with windows 2000 so if its a question of IRQ and DMA, I can find those with relative ease. * I obviously tried modprobeing the snd-sgalaxy driver/module, with no success - possibly related ?
