This patch adds more support for Dell systems with Stac9205 codecs. Tested against a couple of different systems (with different pin configs), but the others should also work. Hi, I have done come test of the new suspend/resume capabilities. However suspend failed to correctly work on my laptop (dell d630). You must note that there is a few trouble issues with sound on this laptop: the snd_hda_intel driver correctly detect a STAC9205 and get the default pin configuration from the bios. So far, so good ... however, pin B is by default configured as line out and is working as such. But, it does not correctly work with an external microphone as it need a vref. So, instead of using the bios settings, I use the windows default settings. This is not perfectly working : I usually get some glinches that disappear after a logout/login procedure. Nothing significant appears from a diff between /proc/asound/card0/codec0 before and after this procedure ... Now let talk about the suspend failure. The suspend procedure (which was previously working) produce a bug (I was not able to catch the message at this stage. [alsa-devel] Intel HDA pin-config values (patch_sigmatel.c) - Dell Inspiron 1721 (also 1521?) mic

Hi, I am wondering where the values of ref9205_pin_configs in patch_sigmatel come from. The SigmaTel documentation gives different reference values for the 9205. The set of values I use at the moment is static unsigned int ref9205_pin_configs[12] = { 0x02214020, 0x02a19041, 0x40000100, 0x40000100, 0x40000100, 0x40000100, 0x40000100, 0x40000100, 0x10a000f0, 0x50a000f0, 0x01441030, 0x01c41030 }; (the first two are actually from the SigmaTel document, the other just mute the remaining in/outs) These numbers actually work quite well for the Dell Inspiron 1721 (and probably for the 1521), even the mic input works - although the quality could be better and the input levels have to be adjusted carefully. Can anybody confirm this? Thorsten.

Hi all, today, I moved www.alsa-project.org to the second ALSA server with Mediawiki. The official URL is: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page or http://www.alsa-project.org (for links from other sites) I also created templates to keep actual release versions in one page. The nice "Download a package" box on main page was taken from mediawiki.org. I'm also working on new box with news for the front page generating news from Main_Page_News. Last change is the modification of Special:Prefixindex (new special name is Special:ALSAPrefixindex) to remove 'Vendor-' and 'Module-' (or any other) prefixes to increase readability of Matrix:Main page. [alsa-devel] Where is simple mixer control "Surround" defined for ac97 or via82xx? I cant find it anywhere in ac97....

There are many implementations inside of the hda directory, but those dont have anything todo with non hda things, the only item in the ac97 directory is for AD18XX: ac97_codec.c:958:AD18XX_PCM_VOLUME("Surround Playback Volume", 1) This shouldnt have anything to do with VIA 1618 stuff, right? tnx! johnu

Thanks a lot! :) I realize, it's a "workaround" rather than real solution, but this made Audigy suitable for VOIP (I tried the highest value of 0x0f0f). I've got a feeling, it could be even set in release this way for all the Audigy owners, until the final solution of DSP-related issues will take place, because it doesn't seem to spoil anything (although I didn't made much testing of all the available options yet). Hi list, snd-hda-intel does no longer load on my Dell XPS M1710 using alsa-driver-hg20070728. However it works without apparent problems with alsa-driver-hg20070727. I'm running 2.6.22.1-cfs-v19 on a SuSE 10.2 x86_64. Find attached an excerpt from /var/log/messages first loading hg20070727 followed by hg20070728. If you need additional info drop me a note. Hi, right now I committed a series of patches for HD-audio driver to HG repository. There are two big changes: - The suspend/resume code is rewritten Now the driver uses cached register values to restore the last status. It's much cleaner than the previous code, and should work better. But, I couldn't test it on all existing laptops. So, please test and report any positive/negative feedbacks. - New POWER_SAVE kconfig The driver has POWER_SAVE confiugration. When enabled (it's so if you build from alsa-driver tree), the driver turns off the codec and the controller chips when not used, and turn on again dynamically on demand. Good for laptops, good for mother earth! :) The feature can be enabled/diabled even on the fly via "power_save" module option of snd-hda-intel. For disabling it, write 0 to /sys/modules/snd_hda_intel/parameters/power_save for disabling it, or pass power_save=0 in modprobe option (or its configuration). Again, please give any positive/negative feedbacks, as I couldn't test many devices. thanks, Takashi
