alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf pull request #587 was opened from alexVinarskis: Add a Regex string, seems to be mostly compatible with Yoga Slim7x. x4 speakers, x2 DMICs (unlike Yoga's 4), x2 DP, no headphone jack. DMI_info evaluates to `Dell Inc.-XPS-0DXPNM`. It appears to be okay to re-use Yoga, as [only 2 microphone channels are considered](https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf/blob/master/ucm2/…. Audio part of Dell XPS 9345 DT is available [out of tree](https://github.com/alexVinarskis/linux-x1e80100-dell-tributo), will be submitted to the lists shortly. audioreach-topology was [merged a while ago](https://github.com/linux-msm/audioreach-topology/pull/20). Tested that speakers, MICs are working. **Known issues:** L and R sides are swapped due to kernel driver not taking DT labels into account just yet, and particular platform having WSAs connected to different soundwires interfaces than the rest of x1e80100 devices. Identified by Abel Vesa at Linaro. Fix will be on the kernel and/or DT side. Zoom R24 USB multichannel audio interface no longer recognized

I'm new here so my apologies if I'm asking questions at the wrong place. Someone told me this could be a regression in ALSA. I'm running Fedora and have used a Zoom R24 as a USB multichannel audio interface (8-in/2-out) for many years. Recently I upgraded to Fedora 42 and now the device is presented as dumb 2-in/2-out USB audio interface. "pavucontrol" does not present multi-channel profiles for the device. The command "alsamixer -c 1" (to select the R24) gives "This device does not have any controls.". "qjackctl" also shows 2-in/2-out channels. I use the device with "ardour" for multi-channel recording but that no longer works, only 2-in/2-out channels are available. How can I get the R24 fully functional again? Thanks,

alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf issue #586 was opened from ford-prefect: I wanted to raise this issue before creating a PR -- the string "Play HiFi quality Music" is not very good as a user-facing description for the output of their device's audio capability. The configuration enables both playback and capture (so "Play" is incomplete). There is nothing "Music"-specific about the output. And finally, "HiFi quality" feels like an anachronism at best. Historically, we've used "Analog Stereo Duplex" for playback/capture and "Analog Stereo Input" or "Analog Stereo Output" for unidirectional configuration (these strings are also well translated at this point). Another option is to use "Analog Audio", I suppose. Open to other options, if there are ideas. Handling Lost Audio IRQs in ALSA: Triggering XRUN on Timer Detection?

Hi all,I’m currently investigating a sporadic issue in our system where an audio interrupt is occasionally lost. When this happens, ALSA detects the anomaly (presumably through its internal timestamp or delay detection), but it doesn’t appear to take corrective action—leading to persistent audio jitter afterward.To address this, I’m considering implementing a mechanism in our driver or platform layer that uses a timer to check if the expected audio interrupt hasn’t arrived within a certain timeframe (e.g., 2x the period size). If this condition is met, I plan to explicitly trigger an XRUN to reset the pipeline and recover cleanly.My questions are: 1. Is this an acceptable and “ALSA-friendly” way to handle lost IRQs? 2. If this is a reasonable approach, why doesn’t ALSA do this by default? 3. Is there a better or recommended way within the ALSA framework to detect and recover from such missed interrupts? I’d appreciate any guidance or suggestions. If this kind of timer-based recovery would be broadly useful, I’d also be happy to explore whether it could be proposed upstream. Thanks, Sandeep
