Hi all, maybe this topic is a bit outdated, but still, when using the current hg code of the kernel module together with 2.6.24 (stable), I can't get any sound :( Do I have also to upgrade the ALSA libs and programs? Marco

In linus' git tree I found this problem. Is it also in the alsa tree? please confirm it's the right fix. [alsa-devel] How to change the sound volume?

Hi, How would a simple alsa-based sound player change the playback volume? I've been looking into the mixer interface, but there's no connection to snd_pcm_t*, so I'm not sure this is what I need to use. I only want to change the sound volume of my player, without altering the sound streams of the other applications. Thanks, Cosmin

[alsa-devel] Salsa-lib memleak

Hi, it seems Salsa-lib leak memory in case of errors. For snd_pcm_open, snd_pcm_t is allocated, but not free in case of snd_pcm_hw_mmap_status error. The same things happen in _snd_pcm_mmap, there error return in middle of the code, without freeing the allocated memory. Thanks Matthieu

[alsa-devel] Intel ICH Modem init fails for laptop built-in SiS modem

My JVC mininote laptop has an inbuilt SiS modem 00:01.6 Modem [0703]: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] AC'97 Modem Controller [1039:7013] (rev a0) which is detected by the snd-intel8x0m driver but it always fails to initialise and spams the log file :- kernel: codec_semaphore: semaphore is not ready [0x1][0x1300] kernel:last message repeated 2 times kernel: codec_semaphore: semaphore is not ready [0x1][0x300] kernel:last message repeated 431 times kernel: AC'97 1 does not respond - RESET kernel: codec_semaphore: semaphore is not ready [0x1][0x300] kernel: codec_semaphore: semaphore is not ready [0x1][0x300] kernel: AC'97 1 access is not valid [0xffffffff], removing mixer. kernel: Unable to initialize codec #1 kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:01.6 disabled kernel: Intel ICH Modem: probe of 0000:00:01.6 failed with error -5 I never use the modem so I blacklisted the snd-intel8x0m module in modprobe.conf just to make the messages go away. I'm currently running the fedora 2.6.23 kernel but it has been broken for a long time. Is this fixable? or shall I just go on ignoring it ;) ? cheers Richard

This patch enables snoop on Intel SCH chipset, eliminating static during playback. Signed off by Tobin Davis <tdavis(a)dsl-only.net> P.S. I know this is real close to the final release, but it is critically needed for product enabling. The patch has no effect on other components, and has been tested on production desktop and laptop systems, along with Intel's Mobile Internet Device. This is the last patch needed for release. P.P.S Forgot to include the patch in the last email. Doh.
