alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf issue #619 was opened from sjolo312: This is not a kernel bug but a missing UCM matcher. Result: With the matcher below and the latest upstream alsa-ucm-conf files, speakers and microphone work on the ASUS Zenbook S 14 UX5406SA (Lunar Lake, cs42l43 + cs35l56). Tested on: - Ubuntu 25.10 beta (up-to-date live session) - alsa-ucm-conf: upstream master from GitHub (as of 2025-09-26) CardLongName: ASUSTeKCOMPUTERINC.-ASUSZenbookS14UX5406SA_UX5406SA-1.0-UX5406SA Root cause: Upstream master does not contain a matcher for this CardLongName, so no UCM profile is loaded (-> “Dummy Output”). Adding the matcher below ensures the existing sof-soundwire profile (which already includes cs42l43/cs35l56 routes) is loaded, and audio works. Looking for inputs on hostless playback with the DSP

Hi Mark/Takashi, I would like to implement a topology with a tone generator widget running in the DSP that is connected to the speaker codec at the backend. So, my pipeline looks something like this: Tone Generator Module (DSP) -> DAI Component (DSP) -> Speaker Codec Without a PCM frontend, how would I go about activating this path in my topology? While I can think of adding a kcontrol for the tone generator widget to enable the pipeline in the DSP, I'm wondering how to do the hw_params, startup/shutdown for the backend speaker codec. Could you please help me with some pointers on how to do this? Thanks, Ranjani

ASOC - Manage sound card with multiple optional codecs

I'm working on a custom driver for an embedded device that should manage an audio card with multiple codecs. Each codec can be hotplugged or removed because is placed on an external display that extends an i2cbus. I used the orginal fsl/imx-card.c driver as a starting point and my device tree looks like this: sound_card: sound { compatible = "display-audio-card"; model = "disp-audio"; pri-dai-link { link-name = "disp-codec-1"; format = "dsp_b"; dai-tdm-slot-num = <4>; dai-tdm-slot-width = <32>; dai-tdm-slot-tx-mask = <1 1 1 1 0 0 0 0>; fsl,mclk-equal-bclk; cpu { sound-dai = <&esai0>; }; codec { sound-dai = <&speaker_dac_1>, <&speaker_dac_2>; }; }; }; The first issue I encountered was that if both of the codecs were not present at the system start the snd_soc_of_get_dai_link_codecs was returning probe_defer, so I made an internal customization to set one of the two codecs to dummy and continuing registering the card that works as required. Now the problem I am facing is when I have both displays connected and when I unplug one of them all the card gets unregistered instead of the single codec. I tried implementing the codec_i2c_remove where I removed the component from the component list snd_soc_component_remove(component); list_del(&component->list); devm_kfree(dev, component->name); and this did not unregistered the card, but something is odd. So I tried to replace the component with a dummy codec to be transparent but without success There is some other architecture instead of imx-card that I can use to implement the feature? I remember firsly I tried with audio-graph-card but without success.

alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf issue #617 was opened from FreddieWitherden: My USB MOTU M6 USB device works fine, but the KDE sound settings dialogue reports it as "M Series [ALSA UCM error] Pro" in both the Playback Devices and Recording Devices.
