[PATCH v2 00/28] Add support for QMC HDLC, framer infrastruture and PEF2256 framer

Hi, I have a system where I need to handle an HDLC interface and some audio data. The HDLC data are transferred using a TDM bus on which a PEF2256 (E1/T1 framer) is present. The PEF2256 transfers data from/to the TDM bus to/from the E1 line. This PEF2256 is connected to a PowerQUICC SoC for the control path and the TDM is connected to the SoC (QMC component) for the data path. From the QMC HDLC driver, I need to handle HDLC data using the QMC, carrier detection using the PEF2256 (E1 line carrier) and set/get some PEF2256 configuration. The QMC HDLC driver considers the PEF2256 as a generic framer. It performs operations that involve the PEF2256 through the generic framer API. The audio data are exchanged with the PEF2256 using a CPU DAI connected to the TDM bus through the QMC and the PEF2256 needs to be seen as a codec in order to be linked to the CPU DAI. The codec handles the carrier detection using the PEF2256 and reports the carrier state to the ALSA subsystem using the ASoC jack detection. The codec, even if instantiated by the PEF2256 driver, considers the PEF2256 as a generic framer. [PATCH] ASoC: jz4740: Update to use maple tree register cache

The maple tree register cache is based on a much more modern data structure than the rbtree cache and makes optimisation choices which are probably more appropriate for modern systems than those made by the rbtree cache. In v6.5 it has also acquired the ability to generate multi-register writes in sync operations, bringing performance up to parity with the rbtree cache there. Update the jz4740 driver to use the more modern data structure. [PATCH 00/24] ALSA: Generic PCM copy ops using sockptr_t

Hi, this is a patch set to clean up the PCM copy ops using sockptr_t as a "universal" pointer, inspired by the recent patch from Andy Shevchenko: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230721100146.67293-1-andriy.shevchenko@linux.in… Even though it sounds a bit weird, sockptr_t is a generic type that is used already in wide ranges, and it can fit our purpose, too. With sockptr_t, the former split of copy_user and copy_kernel PCM ops can be unified again gracefully. The patch set introduces the new PCM ops, converting users, and drops the old PCM ops. Most of conversions are straightforward, simply replacing copy_*_user() with copy_*_sockptr() variants. Note that the conversion in ASoC will fix a potential problem of ASoC PCM that has been for long time. Since ASoC component takes care of only copy_user, the conversion form/to kernel space might have been missing. With this patch set, both cases are handled with sockptr_t by a single callback. The patches are lightly tested (with a faked PCM copy implementation on HD-audio), while most of patches are only compile-tested. [PATCH v2 0/9] sound: Use -EPROBE_DEFER instead of i915 module loading.

Explicitly loading i915 becomes a problem when upstreaming the new intel driver for Tiger Lake and higher graphics (xe). By loading i915, it doesn't wait for driver load of xe, and will fail completely before it loads. -EPROBE_DEFER has to be returned before any device is created in probe(), otherwise the removal of the device will cause EPROBE_DEFER to try again in an infinite loop. The conversion is done in gradual steps. First I add an argument to snd_hdac_i915_init to allow for -EPROBE_DEFER so I can convert each driver separately. Then I convert each driver to move snd_hdac_i915_init out of the workqueue. Finally I drop the ability to choose modprobe behavior after the last user is converted. I suspect the avs and skylake drivers used snd_hdac_i915_init purely for the modprobe, but I don't have the hardware to test if it can be safely removed. It can still be done easily in a followup patch to simplify probing. --- New since first version: - snd_hda_core.gpu_bind is added as a mechanism to force gpu binding, for testing. snd_hda_core.gpu_bind=0 forces waiting for GPU bind to off, snd_hda_core.gpu_bind=1 forces waiting for gpu bind. Default setting depends on whether kernel booted with nomodeset. - Incorporated all feedback review. [PATCH v2 0/3] Add PWM-DAC audio support for StarFive JH7110 RISC-V SoC

This patchset adds PWM-DAC audio support for the StarFive JH7110 SoC. The PWM-DAC module does not require a hardware codec, but a dummy codec is needed for the driver. The dummy spdif codec driver, which is already upstream, is compatible with the one which JH7110 PWM-DAC needed. So we use it as the dummy codec driver for the JH7110 PWM-DAC module. The third patch depends on tag next-20230728 in linux-next branch.
