Some Jasperlake Chromebooks overwrite the system vendor DMI value to the name of the OEM that manufactured the device. This breaks Chromebook quirk detection as it expects the system vendor to be "Google". Add another quirk detection entry that looks for "Google" in the BIOS version. Migrating this list to a different platform (take 2)

Hello, all: I'm told that a while back there were some discussions to migrate this list to vger, but the process never really got finalized. I would like to restart this discussion again, because I am in the middle of vger list migrations and it seems like an opportune moment to bring this up. There are the following benefits to gain after migration: - it becomes an open list that doesn't require much moderator involvement - the messages are DMARC-compliant when received by subscribers - the infrastructure is supported and monitored by LF IT 24/7 However, there will be the following impacts: - we can try to set up a forward from the old address, but previous attempts to do so with mailman had mixed results - if the old address is set up to forward mail to the new address, then anyone sending to both addresses will get doubles of everything, which can be annoying - setting up a hard bounce at the old address would probably be preferable, but it's a "ripping off the bandaid" kind of approach If you are interested in migrating the list, I suggest we move it to alsa-devel(a)lists.linux.dev and not vger, solely because vger is in the process of migration itself and it would be easier to use the lists.linux.dev domain at this stage than to go with vger.kernel.org. [PATCH 0/3] ASoC: qcom: check ADSP version when setting clocks

The apq8016_sbc driver currently works on APQ8016 and MSM8916 devices. It should also work on MSM8909 (and newer SoCs like MSM8917 and MSM8953 if the quinary MI2S line is added); however, newer devices with these SoCs ship with newer firmware that uses a different interface for controlling the digital codec and bit clocks, which causes the driver to fail because it cannot set LPAIF_BIT_CLK. In order to fix this problem, modify the LPAIF_* clock implementation in the qdsp6 driver to use the newer clock API if a newer firmware version is detected. This seems to be a better solution than exposing the firmware version to other drivers like apq8016_sbc and forcing them to figure out which clock to use. On MSM8916, a hack is currently used to control the LPAIF_DIG_CLK directly through the GCC driver, but on devices with the newer firmware, the INTERNAL_DIGITAL_CODEC_CORE clock provided by q6afe-clocks in the qdsp6 driver can be used instead. Explicitly loading i915 becomes a problem when upstreaming the new intel driver for Tiger Lake and higher graphics (xe). By loading i915, it doesn't wait for driver load of xe, and will fail completely before it loads. -EPROBE_DEFER has to be returned before any device is created in probe(), otherwise the removal of the device will cause EPROBE_DEFER to try again in an infinite loop. The conversion is done in gradual steps. First I add an argument to snd_hdac_i915_init to allow for -EPROBE_DEFER so I can convert each driver separately. Then I convert each driver to move snd_hdac_i915_init out of the workqueue. Finally I drop the ability to choose modprobe behavior after the last user is converted.
