This set of patches achieves few goals in order to enable data probing feature for audio DSP. First, provide new and alter existing interfaces (page allocation, runtime flow adjustments) to make them compress friendly. For HDA part, work has been done to account for compress streams when servicing IRQs, setting up BDLs and assigning DMAs. Finally, the end goal which are the probe APIs and usage itself. Probes can be treated as endpoints which allow for data extraction from or injection to target module - a great ally when debugging problematic audio issues such as distortions, glitches or gaps. Compress streams are a weapon of choice here to provide a lightweight implementation. While all available IPCs have been defined, current implementation covers extraction only, with injection scheduled for a later date. Initial review and development of probes can be found under: https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/pull/1276 with the hda-compress-enable set of patches being separated and reviewed on: https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/pull/1571 Tested on CML-U with rt5682 i2s board. Changes in v4: - No changes to ALSA core and hda patches - 'probe' source added in patch "ASoC: SOF: Implement Probe IPC API" now only compiled if SND_SOC_SOF_DEBUG_PROBES is enabled. Said kconfig initial declaration has been moved to that patch too - 'extractor_stream_tag' field now decorated with _DEBUG_PROBES to account for the change above - Debugfs probe handlers now check if extractor stream is running before continuing. To achieve this, 'extractor_stream_tag' is both initialized and set to SOF_PROBE_INVALID_NODE_ID on sof_probe_compr_free(). Suggestion provided by Pierre - Reverted SND_SOC_SOF_HDA_LINK requirement-removal change for HDA probes. Crash happens in snd_soc_dapm_new_dai() when substream->private_data access is made and substream is NULL here. This is seen for DAIs where only playback or capture stream is defined. This seems to be happening for codec2codec DAI link. Both playback and capture are 0 during soc_new_pcm(). This is probably happening because cpu_dai and codec_dai are both validated either for SNDRV_PCM_STREAM_PLAYBACK or SNDRV_PCM_STREAM_CAPTURE. Shouldn't be playback = 1 when, - playback stream is available for codec_dai AND - capture stream is available for cpu_dai and vice-versa for capture = 1? ALSA PCM core recently introduced a new managed PCM buffer allocation mode that does allocate / free automatically at hw_params and hw_free. However, it overlooked the code path directly calling hw_free PCM ops at releasing the PCM substream, and it may result in a memory leak as spotted by syzkaller when no buffer preallocation is used (e.g. vmalloc buffer). This patch papers over it with a slight refactoring. The hw_free ops call and relevant tasks are unified in a new helper function, and call it from both places. The existing mainline code is missing most of the DAI callbacks needed for a functional implementation, and the existing ones need to be modified to provide the relevant information to SOF drivers. The existing stream support works fine with simple cases, but does not map well with ALSA transitions for underflows/resume where prepare() can be called multiple times. Concurrency with multiple devices per links or multiple streams enabled on the same link also needs to be fixed. These patches are the result of hours of validation on the Intel side and should benefit other implementations since there is nothing hardware-specific. The Intel-specific changes being reviewed do depend on those stream changes though to be functional. Hi Sirs, Here is chromebook SW team from Compal. As the mail title, we hit issue that the external monitor will flash once when play video after hot pluging. We can reproduce not only on chromebook but also ubuntu 16.04. There has higher failure rate with Dell Solomon dock and Dell S2718D monitor. Overview ======== The Audio Hub (AHUB) is part of the Audio Processing Engine (APE) which comprises a collection of hardware accelerators for audio pre-processing and post-processing. It also includes a programmable full crossbar for routing audio data across these accelerators. This is a collection of fixes/refactoring/additions for the DB410c UCM files. My goal is to also make them usable for other MSM8916 devices, e.g. the three MSM8916 smartphones which can run mainline Linux since https://lore.kernel.org/linux-arm-msm/20190722092211.100586-1-stephan@gerho… For now this is just preparation - this patch series refactors the DB410c UCM configuration into re-usable device fragments that can be included when needed.
