Currently there is no support for the TSCS42xx audio CODEC.
Add support for it.
v5 attempts to address all issues raised in the previous reviews.

This comment is going to be replaced in the 2nd set anyway because the

The github smart-mirror project uses arecord on pi devices to capture user
audio. This is a long running application,
(I expect my mirror to be on 24/7)
Anyhow, after 18 hours, we stop receiving audio data.
I have debugged it to the capture routine in aplay.c
Basically it is not intended to run forever.

Eventually rest AND count will be 0 or less
than 0 (for wav this is 2 gig).
Then we loop back up, start another file,
and then while rest >0, it is not any longer

and then rest <0, so no data capture..
If this is stdout, we should NOT decrement
the rest and size counters.. but let the timelimit and sample limit stop the
outer loop

I am writing an machine driver to support 2 mono channel CODEC DAIs with single CPU dai link, for which I could successfully able to add and register the card. But when I run tinyplay, hw_params() call happening only for first codec entry in the dai link. Can anyone help how to rectify this issue. As both codec dai linked I expect hw_params to be called for both codec.

CPU/Codec categorize will be removed soon.
Then, it need to know DAI is Codec somehow. This patch uses component
driver's "non_legacy_dai_naming" which is used by Codec for it.

missed about Codec <-> Codec case.
I think this patch can solve this issue.

Enhanced HD Audio capabilities introduced in HD Audio controllers are
added in backward compatible way i.e. it does not change the behavior
of the controller with respect to HDA Bus and HDA devices.
Since there is no change in the hardware with respect to the HDA bus and
HDA device it is more appropriate to represent the same in software as
well.
In order to align software representation with hardware it makes more
sense to have common data structures across device, bus and driver for both
enhanced HDA controllers and legacy HDA controllers.
This patch series removes the hdac_ext_device structure, hdac_ext_bus and
hdac_ext_driver data structures so that legacy and enhanced HDaudio
capabilities can be handled in a backwards-compatible way without
separate definitions.
Once this clean-up is complete, additional patches will allow for
HDaudio codec support in an ASoC framework without the need to develop
new codec drivers, thereby enabling the use of the Intel DSP on more
platforms (currently limited to hdmi).

Hi folks
I recently got a Line6 Helix LT which can work usb compliant for example on
OSX or IOS. No driver is needed but the samplerate is fixed to 48000 (
which is okay for the first ).
Now i expected this device to work ootb in alsa, which turned out to be
half the truth.
Connecting the device threw " usb 7-2: parse_audio_format_rates_v2():
unable to retrieve number of sample rates (clock 16)"
so i investigated a bit and found this workaround:

This trick made the device appear in aplay -l and /proc/asound just as
expected.

But i ended up with sometimes occuring soft clicks in playback which
imply i have timing problems.
Another symptom is aplay does not output any sound while not throwing
any error while in jack i can create the driver just fine.
I would apreciate any hint what i could try out here.

This patchset aims to provide a very basic version of QCOM DSP based
audio support which is available in downstream andriod kernels.
This patchset only support Digital audio based for HDMI-RX and will
add support to other features as we move on.
QDSP has both static and dynamic modules. static modules like AFE
(Audio FrontEnd), ADM (Audio Device Manager), ASM(Audio Stream Manager)
and CORE to provide this audio services.
All these services use APR (Asynchronous Packet Router) protocol
via smd/glink transport to communicate with Application processor.
More details on each module is availble in there respective patch.
This patchset is tested on DB820c, with HDMI audio playback
on top of mainline, also tested slimbus analog audio using wcd9355
with an additional small patch.
