Hi All, First of all good news, with kernel 4.15-rc2 and alsa-lib 1.1.5 audio over hdmi works on Cherry Trail devices after selecting the right output profile. But when unplugging the hdmi cable pa dies. Running pa under gdb says it gets killed with SIGKILL, so I think this is another realtime issue where it gets killed by the kernel for exceeding its CPU budget. I've a log file of a run which ends with SIGKILL here: https://fedorapeople.org/~jwrdegoede/pulseaudio-cht-hdmi.log What stands out is a whole lot of errors / underruns after: D: [pulseaudio] module-alsa-card.c: Jack 'HDMI/DP,pcm=1 Jack' is now unplugged D: [pulseaudio] device-port.c: Setting port hdmi-output-1 to status no So it seems that the problem is that pa still tries to use the device after the unplug, even though it sees the unplug before getting any errors. Hi ALSA team, This is regarding compress offload framework file operations wrt open system call. For open call to this driver currently allows for same node more than once. This may result in memleak issues or data corruption if same node in use by multiple instances. can we have restriction to avoid open of same node using some refcount? we can either have refcount under compr->private_data and cross check in below function before proceeding. static int snd_compr_open(struct inode *inode, struct file *f) Please suggest accordingly. The rt5514-spi driver seem to assume the validity of the drvdata pointer on resume, which it may not be populated, leading to a not-so-nice crash. This stems from the fact that rt5514_spi_pcm_probe() is never called on my system (a kevin Chromebook). No idea why, but if it can happen, it is worth fixing. There was a long-standing problem on HP Spectre X360 with Kabylake where it lacks of the front speaker output in some situations. Also there are other products showing the similar behavior. The culprit seems to be the missing COEF setup on ALC codecs, ALC225/295/299, which are all compatible. This patch adds the proper COEF setup (to initialize idx 0x67 / bits 0x3000) for addressing the issue. This is a v4l2 subdev driver supporting the TDA1997x HDMI video receiver. I've tested this on a Gateworks GW54xx/GW551x with an IMX6Q/IMX6DL which uses the TDA19971 with 16bits connected to the IMX6 CSI. For this configuration I've tested both 16bit YUV422 and 8bit BT656 parallel video bus modes. While the driver should support the TDA1993 I do not have one for testing. The GPD win and pocket devices both use the same codec setup and both have too generic dmi strings making snd_soc_set_dmi_name() not work. As these devices have only a single speaker we want a separate ucm file for them, which requires a unique long_name, use the existing GPD quirk handling to also provide a unique long_name.
