The widget power-save that was enabled in 4.1 kernel seems resulting in the silent output on VIA codecs by some reason. Some widgets get wrong power states. As a quick fix, turn this flag off while keeping power_down_unused flag. This will bring back to the state of 4.0.x. This reverts commit 7290006d8c0900c56d8c58428134f02c35109d17. Through the regression report, it was revealed that the tpacpi_led_set() call to thinkpad_acpi helper doesn't only toggle the mute LED but actually mutes the sound. This is contradiction to the expectation, and rather confuses user. According to Henrique, it's not trivial to judge which TP model behaves "LED-only" and which model does whatever more intrusive, as Lenovo's implementations vary model by model. So, from the safety reason, we should revert the patch for now. Hello, I have one patch that enables the spi initialization of the WM510205 audio codec Without the patch, this message indicates that the codec chip fails with the current chipselect number in spi-pxa2xx: [ 0.296256] pxa2xx-spi 80860F0E:00: cs1 >= max 1 [ 0.296270] spi_master spi32766: failed to add SPI device WM510205:00 from ACPI So raise num_chipselect by one to enable the codec. The WM510202 is on chipselect = 1. fread() function on success returns the number of blocks which it reads, so return value should be compared with "1" because only 1 block having size equal to sizeof(header) needs to be read. On success fread will return 1 else error case. Hi, the built-in speakers of my HP ProBook 455 G2 are not working by default. I'm attaching the output of alsa-info.sh. In pavucontrol, the speakers appear as "Speakers (unavailable)", and in the GNOME sound settings they don't appear at all. After some playing around with HDAAnalyzer, I discovered that enabling the 'OUT' widget control of pin 0x14 makes the speakers emit sound, see the diff below. Let me know if you need any more information, and I'll happily test any patches to fix this problem.
