This patch series adds DP audio and hotplug notification support. On Skylake two DP ports are available and to enable DP on both ports all pins need to be enabled. There is a special vendor widget which need to be programmed to enable all pins and converters. This series adds hotplug notification, read/set constraint based on ELD, enable all pin/cvts, DP1.2, programs the audio infoframe for DP. There is a one to one mapping between converter and stream, so the dais are created based on the no of streams supported on hdmi codec. Even though cvts can be mapped dynamically to the streams, currently it is statically mapped as simultaneous playback on both DP and HDMI is not supported as of now. Pin muxes and controls are created dynamically to map converter to pin widget. So at run time specific pin is mapped to the dai based on the control selected (based on the display type DP/HDMI connected). Finally the DP audio infoframe programming is added to support the DP feature. Also with hotplug notification support, ELD is read and capabilities are set for rate, formats and channels. drm_eld sound/core framework is updated to limit the formats based on ELD. There are few fixes one fixing the static checker warning and other one not to fail if no connection list is found for a pin widget. Pls note, the 10th patch is adding a small macro for getting connection type in drm header, we have CCed drm folks on that and this one. Sometime between kernels 3.13 (ubuntu 14.04) and 3.19 (15.04) there was a regression that caused the mixer elements of the Traktor Audio10 driver to stop responding to changes to True. I am a member of the audio group and I have also tried with sudo, but when I try to set the value on nothing happens: $ amixer -c T10 cset numid=8 on numid=8,iface=MIXER,name='Phono Input Channel B' ; type=BOOLEAN,access=rw------,values=1 : values=off The fun part is, if I connect the card to my mac I can set startup conditions for these flags. I can set them to true, and when I connect to my linux machines the flags start up as true. And then, even on the newer kernel, I can turn them off! But I can't turn them back on again. Currently the info in /proc/interrupts doesn't allow to figure out which interrupt belongs to which card (HDMI, PCH, ..). Therefore add card details to the interrupt description. Hello, my name is Jörg Steffens and I'm one of the maintainers of the Bareos backup software project. Bareos is a fork Bacula. Bareos includes a GUI program called bat (bareos administration tool). bat have been around since 2007. alsa-utils as well as bareos-bat (as well a some Bacula packages) all contain a program called /usr/bin/bat, which causes conflicts on various distributions ("basic audio tester" vs "bareos administration tool" ("bacula administration tool")). See http://pkgs.org/search//usr/bin/bat We received a bug report/feature request https://bugs.bareos.org/view.php?id=576 from Michel, the maintainer of Bareos for Arch Linux about how to solve the naming conflict with we latest ALSA 1.1.0. I wanted to raise the question, if you are aware of this potential problem? Maybe you have guidelines for package maintainers how to solve this. Some distributions have separated "basic audio tester" from the alsa-utils package, like Fedora with alsa-utils-bat. I think, this will work out well, as I assume "basic audio tester" is not stricly required on all systems. While testing legacy Suspend on Skylake, we found few issues that require driver changes. This was tested with usermode apps and aplay. We need to add RESUME capability in driver to let ALSA resume us, then HDA was not getting reconfigured upon resume so that is updated.
