Hi Mathew, same here on different hardware. Using openSUSE Tumbleweed (3.15.5, radeon OSS drivers) I cannot pass 7.1 LPCM and cannot bitstream HD Audio formats. XBMC only detects 2 channels. I can bitstream AC3 / DTS. This patchset adds support for the Everest Semi ES8328 audio codec, used in the Novena open source laptop. It also adds support for using the es8328 on IMX boards. We write a machine driver rather than using simple-card because the machine driver needs to support regulators for the speaker amps and as well as supporting headphone jacks, in addition to the i.MX audmux routing. Changes since v8: - For the mclk ratios, move from an array to a lookup table, and rename the variable to be clearer. - Move all CHIPPOWER accesses into DAPM supplies. - Fix sloppy compile problems introduced in v8. - Shut down clocks and supplies on suspend, and enable them on resume. - Remove double set of ES8328_MASTERMODE_MSC. Changes since v7: - We now fetch the regulators in the device-level probe rather than in the ASoC-level probe. We have the first pass of the ASOC driver for the Allwinner on-chip codec making some noise that makes sense. Code is here... https://github.com/jonsmirl/lpc31xx/blob/codec/sound/soc/sunxi/sunxi-codec.c Something isn't right in the channel assignments. If I play a mono clip I hear it. If I play a stereo clip I get silence. If I use speaker-test to play eight channels, I hear Center and Side Right channels. Not Front left/right as expected. Device only does stereo. After exposing ACPICA types to all kernel sources, we can also sort the final wrong <acpi/acpi.h> inclusion out of <linux/sfi_acpi.h>. This patchset also includes a rule enforcement patch to avoid future inclusion mistakes. The patch set has passed a build/boot test on the following machines: Dell Inspiron Mini 1010 (i386) HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC (x86-64) With the following kernel configuration items enabled: All drivers/acpi configurations All platform drivers All ACPI drivers 4 DRM drivers that implement ACPI opregion All buses with ACPI bindings All cpufreq configurations All xen configurations All ACPI table drivers They are tested twice with CONFIG_ACPI enabled/disabled.
