Hi, I am beginning to start on an audio project for the TI DM8148/EVM. I intend to 1). extend the current McASP/PCM drivers to support 4 transmit serializes to support four stereo pairs of 24-bit 96kHz in DIT mode - output on McASP2 (for 7.1 audio digital) 2). extend the current McASP/PCM drivers to support 4 transmit serializes to support four stereo pairs of 24-bit 96kHz in i2s mode - output on McASP2 (for 7.1 audio digital) 3). make relevant changes to EDMA etc. 4). make sure McASP2/3 hardware registers are set up correctly 5). add relevant support to a new ALSA driver and present McASP2 and McASP3 as two separate 7.1 capable sound cards. I am looking for some help (paid or otherwise. Anyone interested? David.

[alsa-devel] Not able to restart audio after hibernation

Hello Mark, I am testing my audio driver on spear platform with the linux kernel 2.6.37. During testing I put my system in hibernation mode and found that there is no sound after resume. The steps I am using for hibernation are 1. Have audio player on, select some audio, (using aplay utils) 2. Hibernate machine 3. Resume from hibernate After resume it seems that there is no data available in the buffer to play, as application is giving pcm_write error and exit. While going through the suspend/resume implementation in the alsa framework, get to know that feature to support hibernation is missing. The suspend/resume implementation for audio is with dev_pm_ops which is present in snd-core.c . If we look into the structure, we have only suspend, resume and poweroff feature present in it. To support hibernation we need freeze,thaw and restore also. Please correct me if I am wrong? Just for experiment I modified the structure and added freeze, thaw and restore functionality, but the result is same. [alsa-devel] eeprom params for ice1724 module - recommendation?

Hi, I have a generic ice1724 card ooAoo SQ210a (e.g. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/851912/all ). The card has identical PCI identification with Chaintec AV710, no DAC controls (the DAC is hardwired in pin-control mode with no GPIOs attached), no identification string in eeprom and of course incorrect eeprom values. Since the PCI ids overlap with the Chaintec, I cannot define correct eeprom_data for this specific card in the driver. Furthermore I would not be surprised if the other ooAoo cards with different setups shared the same PCI ids. I can skip the Chaintec config by specifying an unknown model in snd-ice1724 param, e.g. modprobe snd-ice1724 model=aooa I would like to be able to specify correct eeprom values for the model too. That would be simple by adding several new module params - eeep2-sysconf, eeep2-aclink, eeep2-spdif etc. However, I have another ice1724 card properly supported by the driver (Infrasonic Quartet). I can use modprobe snd-ice1724 model=quartet,aooa and everything works correctly. But if I wanted to define eeep2-xxx params for the aooa, I would have to define the same params for the quartet too which I find superfluous since they are already correctly in the driver. Or I could use a string type instead of int and use something like eeep2-sysconf=default,47 Or I could "encode" the eeep2 params into the model name, such as modprobe snd-ice1724 model="quartet,aooa(eeep2-sysconf=47;eeep2-spdif=20)" Please which version would you recommend (i.e. accept as a patch)?
