How about for changing them to different tag names?
Here in Clear Linux autospec cannot accept same tarball name in same package.

Yes. Should be good since the tar ball is named according to its tag name.

is a different tag good enough for both ? i.e.

sof-ct-gcc8.1
sof-overlay-gcc8.1 

?
