It's normal.  The "Mic" slider means the analog loopback, so it's not
about recording.

So... it's been while and I'm almost lost.  How is the current
situation?  You tried alc668-headset option, and said that it didn't
work.  Is the option properly evaluated?  You can check it with
enabling the kernel debug messages, or replace codec_dbg() with
codec_info() in snd_hda_pick_fixup().
