I forgot to add in my cover-letter amixer commands used to test it:
amixer set 'AIF1 Data Digital ADC' cap
amixer set 'Mic1' cap
or
amixer set 'Mic2' cap
and, just in case, the commands to enable output/DAC:
amixer set 'Headphone' 50%
amixer set 'Headphone' on
amixer set 'DAC' on
amixer set 'AIF1 Slot 0 Digital DAC' on
