The DTBO for the Audio Cape didn't mark the TX as an output, but I surely can try that.

Oh yes, I get a sound card. That depended on the "sound" and "mcasp0" entries in my overlay to be correct. Sadly, the kernel doesn't actually talk to the IC until you invoke speaker-test (or some other audio program).

Yeah, it's disabled by the main dtb that I load:
