I see differently: there are many shared codes.  For example, the
adaptor-specific codes should be shared.  There is no reason to have
doubly "MS-124T" or whatever-specific things in two places.

The hrtimer code isn't again specific to R-Pi, right?  It'd be better
to enhance this generically in the serial MIDI driver.

What are the other differences?  Suppose you replace the hw register
accessors in an abstract form, i.e. instead of outb() or writeb(),
calling a driver callback, ops->write_byte().  How many codes can be
shared by two devices?
