[alsa-devel] sound disappears or noise heard after long run

Hi,
I am facing issue with alsa similar to the issue reported here

This is seen with latest alsa library and driver. Alsa is configured at
44100 (alsa.conf) and application plays at the rate of 48000. When the
pointers cross the boundary value
(after 6-7hrs), a continuous noise (jack hammer noise) or silence is heard.
Issuing SIGSTOP and SIGCONT recovers the application and it starts playing
normally.

Pulseaudio is not running in our setup.

It could be problem with calculation in the rate plugin.
