I'm trying to help someone on the Kubuntu list, using Hardy Heron 8.04, which uses alsa driver 1.0.16. This is with a Gateway MX3042 Laptop, but no sounds.
The output from running alsa-info.sh is below.
Try my sound.git tree and sound-unstable.git tree.
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound-2.6.git
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound-unstable-2.6.git
The snapshot tarballs are found in ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/tiwai/snapshot/
I'll be happy to (and *DO* thank you for your help!). I'm not sure what this means, however. Are these drivers, a kernel ... how do I try them?
It's a linux kernel git tree. Ask other Ubuntu guys how to build your kernel.
Or, use the alsa-driver snapshot tarball in the ftp directory above. You can install it just like the normal alsa-driver release tarball.
