[alsa-devel] [PATCH 0/3] Add audio support for Microsoft Surface 3 tablet
This series adds audio support for the Surface 3 tablet.
This tablet identifes an rt5645 audio codec using the ACPI identifer 10EC5640, which is already associated with the rt5640, thus a quirk is required to have the correct drivers loaded.
Additionally, in order for jack-detection and the tablet's internal microphone to work, the Surface 3 must be configured in the audio codec driver similarly to other devices.
Resolves: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98001
UCM configuration to be added to alsa-lib is included in patch 3, not included in the diffstat below.

* Add a dmi match for Surface 3 * Add ACPI match "10EC5640"
The Surface 3 tablet identifies the codec in ACPI as 10EC5640, but other devices use this identifier to match the rt5640 codec. However, the probe code for each driver will filter out mismatches.

The patch
ASoC: rt5645: Add ACPI ID 10EC5640
has been applied to the asoc tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound.git
All being well this means that it will be integrated into the linux-next tree (usually sometime in the next 24 hours) and sent to Linus during the next merge window (or sooner if it is a bug fix), however if problems are discovered then the patch may be dropped or reverted.
You may get further e-mails resulting from automated or manual testing and review of the tree, please engage with people reporting problems and send followup patches addressing any issues that are reported if needed.
If any updates are required or you are submitting further changes they should be sent as incremental updates against current git, existing patches will not be replaced.
Please add any relevant lists and maintainers to the CCs when replying to this mail.
Thanks, Mark

Some CHT platforms use RT5645 codec which has entry 10EC5640 so add it. Also add DMI quirk for jack detection.

The Surface 3 uses an RT5645 audio codec, but the ACPI identifier used is that for the RT5640. Use a DMI match to override the driver_data provided by ACPI to workaround ID conflict.
