[alsa-devel] [PATCH] ASoC: pcm: Sync delayed work before releasing resources
When ASoC driver is unbound dynamically during its operation (i.e. a kind of hot-unplug), we may hit Oops due to the resource access after the release by a delayed work, something like: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address dead000000000220 .... For fixing the race, this patch adds a sync-point in pcm private_free callback to finish the delayed work before actually releasing the resources.

Please don't send content free pings and please allow a reasonable time for review. People get busy, go on holiday, attend conferences and so on so unless there is some reason for urgency (like critical bug fixes) please allow at least a couple of weeks for review. If there have been review comments then people may be waiting for those to be addressed. Sending content free pings just adds to the mail volume (if they are seen at all) and if something has gone wrong you'll have to resend the patches anyway.

The patch ASoC: pcm: Sync delayed work before releasing resources has been applied to the asoc tree at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound.git All being well this means that it will be integrated into the linux-next tree (usually sometime in the next 24 hours) and sent to Linus during the next merge window (or sooner if it is a bug fix), however if problems are discovered then the patch may be dropped or reverted. You may get further e-mails resulting from automated or manual testing and review of the tree, please engage with people reporting problems and send followup patches addressing any issues that are reported if needed. If any updates are required or you are submitting further changes they should be sent as incremental updates against current git, existing patches will not be replaced.
