using the hildon desktop, there is just one control exposed of volume/mute. i muted that and still no luck. Any other idea that that i can try?

How can i ensure that the analog switches are off? Through Kmix?
Any sane mixer apps you like. But note that some mixer apps are buggy and don't show all mixer components.
