Almost everything I have owned and only been officially supporting of Windows. That shouldn't mean it's impossible for us to use Linux and a workaround should be available somehow just like it was granted for similar systems recently with newer audio equipment including machines that are new to Asus product line.

This motherboard only supports the WINDOWS series and does not support the LINUX series.
You can get the information of WINDOWS SOUND on the official website of ASUS.

Okay, just for safe keeping here I tested this on mainline 5.1 as well. Same results. No audio from any sources.

Hi,
- Use Windows to boot to see if there is no sound?
If there is no sound in Windows, it may be a problem with codec or amp, to be sent back to ASUS for repair.
- Please turn on the following values with hda-verb (alsa-tool ->
hda-verb) ./had-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 SET_COEF_INDEX 0x35 ./had-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 SET_PROC_COEF 0x8968 // set PDB floating ./had-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x5b SET_COEF_INDEX 0x01 ./had-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x5b SET_PROC_COEF 0x8540
Please turn on the sound(mixer), play a song. If there is a sound. Can Kai-Heng help me get a PATCH file.
Best regards pshou

Hi,
Zen AIO 27 Z272SD_Z272SD doesn’t have sound output [1].
We’ve tried "model=alc256-asus-aio” but it doesn’t work.
Seems like this platform needs something different than ALC256_FIXUP_ASUS_AIO_GPIO2.
