Since Linux 2.6.28 and through to 2.6.30-rc4, the hda-intel driver has had a

What if you use model=auto option?
Also it may be better to try the latest sound git tree:
    git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound-2.6.git
