Yes, of course. I'm not against changing the code but propose to clean up with other stuff together.
I guess this simple conversion will give lots of checkpatch errors.
But it doesn't introduce any errors; it removes some of them.
It does, unfortunately. The output of checkpatch is
total: 3 errors, 7 warnings, 1696 lines checked
