Users of recent ThinkPads, especially X61 and T61s. ALSA 1.0.14 doesn't cut it for the AD1984 Intel sound card on these machines; your head revision, however, does. This need you have to always hang personal issues off of large communities just has to be indicative of some serious inferiority complex issues... But yes, releases have been slow in the coming. Do distributions regularly ship ALSA -rc releases by the way? There hasn't even been a 1.0.15-rc1 yet, so if not, they'd be waiting for quite a bit yet as ALSA goes through the 15-rc stage. Jaroslav -- given that there's a somewhat serious need, how about making 1.0.15 a fast(er) point release? That is, 1.0.15-rc1 right about now and if nothing serious turns up in two weeks time or so, 1.0.15? Can't say I'm aware of how widely/quickly ALSA -rc's are being tested, so don't know if two weeks are enough... I'll release 1.0.15rc1 today and I'm going to have=20 only few rc versions for 1.0.15 to have final 1.0.15 package in two weeks. I'll post notices of the upcoming release in a couple of appropriate fora, including ThinkWiki and the Ubuntu forum thread on the X61. Note for anybody who was worried, like me, that Lenovo might start cutting engineering corners on the ThinkPads and wreck the brand: it doesn't appear to be happening. My brand spankin' new X61 seems to be just as well constructed as the IBM ThinkPads were. Now I need to go through the same dance with Intel about its wireless drivers... -- Eric S.
