[PATCH v2 0/4] ALSA/ASoC: Conditionally skip i915 init and cleanups

A small set of changes to improve initialization of the audio stack on HDAudio devices and pair of cleanups. As the first change is the most important one here, following is the technical background for it: Commit 78f613ba1efb ("drm/i915: finish removal of CNL") and its friends removed support for i915 for all CNL-based platforms. HDAudio library, however, still treats such platforms as valid candidates for i915 binding. Update query mechanism to reflect changes made in drm tree. At the same time, i915 support for LKF-based platforms has not been provided so remove them from valid binding candidates. The snd_soc_hda change is a follow up for the above and the cleanup patches do not bring any functional changes. Attempt to Fix ALC285 on Linux for HP Envy x360 Laptops

Dear Mr. Yang and ALSA contributors, Currently, I'm trying to fix ALC285 for HP Envy x360 13-ar0107au convertible laptop on Linux v6.7.6 kernel. It has several problems including B&O soundbar speakers won't work and volume too low even though it's 100%. For now, the B&O soundbar is working. However, I'm still struggling to fix the low volume problem. The draft patch is attached to this mail. Re: PCI SSID and Codec SSID collision?

Hi, I'm curious about the reasons for the fixup table to be the same for PCI and Codec SSIDs and if the PCI SSID is usually more important for it to be checked before the Codec. Anyway, would a simple conditional statement to match these exact PCI and Codec SSID to set the fixup manually be enough? There seems to already exist a manual fix for TX300 and ROG Strix G17 there (not the same kind of fix and with a FIXME comment, though). I have this exact laptop model and would like to try to contribute to the code if it's not too complicated.

Several Qualcomm based chipsets can support USB audio offloading to a dedicated audio DSP, which can take over issuing transfers to the USB host controller. The intention is to reduce the load on the main processors in the SoC, and allow them to be placed into lower power modes. There are several parts to this design: 1. Adding ASoC binding layer 2. The port is always present on the device, but cable/pin status can be enabled/disabled. Expose mechanisms for USB backend ASoC drivers to communicate with USB SND. Create a USB backend for Q6DSP: q6usb: Basic backend driver that will be responsible for maintaining the resources needed to initiate a playback stream using the Q6DSP. Will be the entity that checks to make sure the connected USB audio device supports the requested PCM format. If it does not, the PCM open call will fail, and userpsace ALSA can take action accordingly. Introduce XHCI interrupter support: XHCI HCD supports multiple interrupters, which allows for events to be routed to different event rings. This is determined by "Interrupter Target" field specified in Section "6.4.1.1 Normal TRB" of the XHCI specification. Events in the offloading case will be routed to an event ring that is assigned to the audio DSP. Create vendor ops for the USB SND driver: qc_audio_offload: This particular driver has several components associated with it: - QMI stream request handler - XHCI interrupter and resource management - audio DSP memory management When the audio DSP wants to enable a playback stream, the request is first received by the ASoC platform sound card. Depending on the selected route, ASoC will bring up the individual DAIs in the path. The Q6USB backend DAI will send an AFE port start command (with enabling the USB playback path), and the audio DSP will handle the request accordingly. Part of the AFE USB port start handling will have an exchange of control messages using the QMI protocol. The qc_audio_offload driver will populate the buffer information: - Event ring base address - EP transfer ring base address and pass it along to the audio DSP. All endpoint management will now be handed over to the DSP, and the main processor is not involved in transfers. Factory calibration of the speakers stores the calibration information into an EFI variable. This set of patches adds support for applying speaker calibration data from that EFI variable. The HDA patch (#5) depends on the ASoC patches #2 and #3 Patch #6 is a KUnit test for the new cs-amp-lib library. [PATCH v12 00/15] Add audio support in v4l2 framework

Audio signal processing also has the requirement for memory to memory similar as Video. This asrc memory to memory (memory ->asrc->memory) case is a non real time use case. User fills the input buffer to the asrc module, after conversion, then asrc sends back the output buffer to user. So it is not a traditional ALSA playback and capture case. It is a specific use case, there is no reference in current kernel. v4l2 memory to memory is the closed implementation, v4l2 current support video, image, radio, tuner, touch devices, so it is not complicated to add support for this specific audio case. Because we had implemented the "memory -> asrc ->i2s device-> codec" use case in ALSA. Now the "memory->asrc->memory" needs to reuse the code in asrc driver, so the first 3 patches is for refining the code to make it can be shared by the "memory->asrc->memory" driver. The main change is in the v4l2 side, A /dev/vl4-audioX will be created, user applications only use the ioctl of v4l2 framework. PCI SSID and Codec SSID collision?

Hi, The Lenovo Yoga Slim Pro 9 14IRP8 has tas2781 amplifiers, but it can only pickup its fixup with the hda_model=17aa:38be module parameter. The 17aa:38be is the SSID of its Codec. The PCI SSID is 17aa:3802. The patch_realtek.c has these fixup: SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x17aa, 0x3802, "Lenovo Yoga DuetITL 2021", ALC287_FIXUP_YOGA7_14ITL_SPEAKERS), SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x17aa, 0x38be, "Yoga S980-14.5 proX YC Dual", ALC287_FIXUP_TAS2781_I2C), And the snd_hda_pick_fixup() picks the former fixup because of the same PCI SSID, but that is a Codec SSID? At least it worked without that line. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208555#c839 It would be nice if it can be work without the module parameter. What is the best way to add this strangeness to patch_realtek.c? Thanks, Gergo
