My OS is Fedora 11 x86_64. Previous snapshots didn't give me this problem, but I can't say which one broke the compilation, since I usually try updated snapshots only at kernel updates. I searched for this error and the only relevant report I could find is this one: http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2009-April/016420.html a report from last April. This is RFC patchset for Allwinner suniv F1C100s to support DMA and audio codec. Allwinner F1C100s has a audio codec that has necessary digital and analog parts. It has r-l headphone output and microphone, line, r-l FM inputs. ADC can capture any inputs and also output channels via mux. Any input channels or DAC samples can feed output channels. Add support for this audio codec. F1C100s utilizes DMA channels to send and receive ADC-DAC samples. So DMA support needed. Patch 1~5 adds support for DMA. Suniv F1C100s has very similar DMA to sun4i. But there is some dissimilarities also. Suniv features a DMA reset bit in clock control unit. It has smaller number of DMA channels. Several registers has different addresses. It's max burst size is 4 instead of 8. Also DMA endpoint numbers are different. Patch 6 adds DMA max burst option to sun4i-codec. [RFC PATCH 00/16] soundwire/ASoC: speed-up downloads with BTP/BRA protocol

This RFC patchset suggests a new API for ASoC codec drivers to use for firmware/table downloads. Problem statement: All existing transfers initiated by codec drivers rely on SoundWire read/write commands, which can only support ONE byte per frame. With the typical 48kHz frame rate, this means 384 kbits/s. In addition, the command/control is typically handled with a FIFO and interrupts which adds more software overhead. To give a practical reference, sending 32Kb takes 2.5s on Intel platforms, which means about 105kbit/s only. Additional non-audio activity is likely to adversely impact interrupt scheduling and further decrease the transfer speeds. New SDCA-based codecs have a need to download tables and DSP firmware which are typically between 20 and 256 Kb. The slow bus operation has a direct impact on boot/resume times, and clearly having to wait more than 300ms is a showstopper in terms of latency requirements and user-experience. Suggested solution: The MIPI specification and most of the new codecs support the Bulk Transfer Protocol (BTP) and specifically the Bulk Register Access (BRA) configuration. This mode reclaims the 'audio' data space of the SoundWire frame to send firmware/coefficients over the DataPort 0 (DP0). The API suggested is rather simple, with the following sequence expected: open(): reserve resources and prepare hardware send_async(): trigger DMAs and perform SoundWire bank switch wait(): wait for DMA completion and disable DMAs close(): release resources Benefits: Even after accounting for the protocol overhead, the data can be sent 8x or 16x faster on the link than with the regular commands. With the use of DMAs, the software overhead becomes limited to the initialization. Measured results show that transferring the same 32Kb takes about 100ms, a 25x improvement on the baseline write() commands with an actual bitrate of 2.6 Mbits/s. These results are a measure of bus/hardware performance mainly, and will typically not be too modified by the CPU activity and scheduling. The performance for reads is similar, with a 25x speedup measured. Limitations: Setting up the transfers over DP0 takes time, and the reliance on DMAs on the host side brings alignment restrictions. The BTP/BRA protocol is really only relevant for "large" transfers done during boot/resume *before* audio transfers take place. Mixing BTP/BRA and audio is a nightmare, this patchset suggests a mutual-exclusion between two usages. Scope: This patchset only exposes the API and a debugfs interface to initiate commands, validate results and measure performance. The actual use of the API is left as an exercise for codec driver developers. This patchset depends on a number of pre-requisite patches and will not build on top of any for-next branches. The main intent of this RFC is to gather comments on the usage, API, benefits and restrictions. The code and functionality was tested on an Intel LunarLake RVP platform connected to a Realtek RT711-SDCA device. [alsa-devel] unsupported variant of snd_hda_intel

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 4736G laptop. The soundcard that is shipped in this laptop is intel-hda based as shown (actually it's a realtek): cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel HDA Intel at 0x9b300000 irq 46 Basic sound output is correct but few feature are missing: - internal mic seems to be found but do not works. - sound output stop working when trying to send it using HDMI output - heads do not work when plugged neither when forcing pulseaudio to use it. I have an ubuntu 10.10 which is shipped with alsa 1.0.23. [PATCH v9 00/13] Introduce STM32 Firewall framework

Introduce STM32 Firewall framework for STM32MP1x and STM32MP2x platforms. STM32MP1x(ETZPC) and STM32MP2x(RIFSC) Firewall controllers register to the framework to offer firewall services such as access granting. This series of patches is a new approach on the previous STM32 system bus, history is available here: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20230127164040.1047583/ The need for such framework arises from the fact that there are now multiple hardware firewalls implemented across multiple products. Drivers are shared between different products, using the same code. When it comes to firewalls, the purpose mostly stays the same: Protect hardware resources. But the implementation differs, and there are multiple types of firewalls: peripheral, memory, ... Some hardware firewall controllers such as the RIFSC implemented on STM32MP2x platforms may require to take ownership of a resource before being able to use it, hence the requirement for firewall services to take/release the ownership of such resources. On the other hand, hardware firewall configurations are becoming more and more complex. These mecanisms prevent platform crashes or other firewall-related incoveniences by denying access to some resources. The stm32 firewall framework offers an API that is defined in firewall controllers drivers to best fit the specificity of each firewall. For every peripherals protected by either the ETZPC or the RIFSC, the firewall framework checks the firewall controlelr registers to see if the peripheral's access is granted to the Linux kernel. If not, the peripheral is configured as secure, the node is marked populated, so that the driver is not probed for that device. The firewall framework relies on the access-controller device tree binding. It is used by peripherals to reference a domain access controller. In this case a firewall controller. The bus uses the ID referenced by the access-controller property to know where to look in the firewall to get the security configuration for the peripheral. This allows a device tree description rather than a hardcoded peripheral table in the bus driver. The STM32 ETZPC device is responsible for filtering accesses based on security level, or co-processor isolation for any resource connected to it. The RIFSC is responsible for filtering accesses based on Compartment ID / security level / privilege level for any resource connected to it. STM32MP13/15/25 SoC device tree files are updated in this series to implement this mecanism. [PATCH 0/7] Soundwire: clean up sysfs group creation

Note, this is a redone version of a very old series I wrote back in 2022: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220824135951.3604059-1-gregkh@linuxfoundation.o… but everyone has forgotten about it now, and I've reworked it, so I'm considering it a "new" version, and not v2. Here's a series that adds the functionality to the driver core to hide entire attribute groups, in a much saner way than we have attempted in the past (i.e. dynamically figuring it out.) Many thanks to Dan for this patch. I'll also be taking this into my driver-core branch and creating a stable tag for anyone else to pull from to get it into their trees, as I think it will want to be in many for this development cycle. After the driver core change, there's cleanups to the soundwire core for how the attribute groups are created, to remove the "manual" creation of them, and allow the driver core to create them correctly, as needed, when needed, which makes things much smaller for the soundwire code to manage. [PATCH 0/2] ALSA/ASoC/SOF: SSP dev_type support

Hi, SOF always passed 0 as dev_type to intel_nhlt_get_endpoint_blob() when looking up the blob from the NHLT table. This causes issues since alsa-utils commit 3a47ef2487ed ("topology: nhlt: intel: support more device types and directions") The dev_type is no longer always 0 in the topology embedded NHLT table resulting lookup failures for analog codecs since they will have dev_type=4. With SOF the dev_type is not used, we always use the SSP port index for looking up the configuration blob. The solution for the issue is to fetch the dev_type for the SSP port and feed it back to the intel_nhlt_get_endpoint_blob() to be able to find the configuration regardless of the assigned dev_type.
