alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf issue #311 was opened from RenEH01:
Hi, I have a MSI MAG B650M Mortar Wifi. I have installed this UCM conf files which provided no sound. I further installed pauvcontrol and I found changing the USB Audio device under Configuration to Pro Audio and changing the output device under Output Devices to USB Audio Pro 2 allowed for sound.
When I select Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output under configuration I get no sound.
When I select Digital Stereo Duplex Duplex under configuration I get no sound, but there is sound under Input Devices. I believe this is reversed. I do not think this board has spdif input functionality at all.
A side effect of using Pro Audio 2 for output is that none of my multi channel tracks are downsampled for 2.0. I'm guessing this will be resolved if the above isssue is resolved. Would that be correct?

alsa-project/alsa-lib issue #315 was edited from drjhe:
I've come across a couple of USB-Audio speaker sets which get configured with non-existent S/PDIF outputs:
- **Creative Pebble V3:** USB ID 041e:3272, ALSA name "Pebble V3"
- **Jabra SPEAK 510:** USB ID 0b0e:0420, ALSA name "Jabra SPEAK 510 USB"
- **'Ricco' Elite Silicon-based USB speakers:** USB ID 18c3:6255, ALSA name "USB Audio Device"
The phantom outputs for the Pebble V3 and Jabra can be removed by adding
```
"Pebble V3" 999
"Jabra SPEAK 510 USB" 999
```
to the ```USB-Audio.pcm.iec958_device``` section of USB-Audio.conf.
For the Ricco speakers the ALSA name seems a bit too generic to add to USB-Audio.conf -- is there a way to achieve the same effect matching on the USB ID?

commit 37eb046d30e73ab12c596521b75a82ea5e97bbac

spi: Replace all spi->chip_select and spi->cs_gpiod references with function call
[ Upstream commit 9e264f3f85a56cc109cc2d6010a48aa89d5c1ff1 ]
Supporting multi-cs in spi drivers would require the chip_select & cs_gpiod
members of struct spi_device to be an array. But changing the type of these
members to array would break the spi driver functionality. To make the
transition smoother introduced four new APIs to get/set the
spi->chip_select & spi->cs_gpiod and replaced all spi->chip_select and
spi->cs_gpiod references with get or set API calls.
While adding multi-cs support in further patches the chip_select & cs_gpiod
members of the spi_device structure would be converted to arrays & the
"idx" parameter of the APIs would be used as array index i.e.,
spi->chip_select[idx] & spi->cs_gpiod[idx] respectively.

[PATCH] Make snd-hda-intel work for HP Envy x360 15-ew0xxx (Realtek ALC245)
by Matthias Ostermaier 06 May '23
by Matthias Ostermaier 06 May '23
06 May '23
Hardware:
HP laptop models HP Envy x360 15-ew0xxx (with codec Realtek ALC245 and
Cirrus Logic Smart Amplifier chipset CSC3551)
vendor_id: 0x10ec0245, subsystem_id: 0x103c8a29, revision_id:0x100001
Kernel version: 6.2+
Output of alsa-info.sh attached (with the patch applied)
Patch repository for reference:
https://github.com/xoocoon/hp-15-ew0xxx-snd-fix
Problem description:
The CSC3551 chipset does not get initialized correctly in aforementioned
laptop models. While the rest of snd-hda-intel recognizes the hardware
correctly, the smart amplifier does not get initialized so that the
built-in loudspeakers do not work. The patch is confirmed to work by
another user owning said laptop model.

The LED indicating muted sound on the laptop keyboard does not work. The
same holds for the LED indicating a deactivated microphone. These issues
are not addressed by the patches.
