Which is why I am making an issue instead of making a pull request removing them. @tiwai any input on this? Segmentation faults with alsa-lib 1.2.10

Greetings, After upgrading from alsa-lib 1.2.9 to 1.2.10 I am not receiving segmentation faults; both the speaker-test program and (external) mpg123 produce faults. (I suspect it is affecting my browser as well.) gdb gives SIGSEGV produced by the sndl_pcm_direct_hw_refine function in /usr/lib/libasound.so.2 for both speaker-test and mpg123. I've reverted to 1.2.9 and have no issues. I also tested 1.2.8, again with no issues. Alsa change value to limit maximum volu

Hi! I am trying to limit the maximum allowed volume without using any softvol (I want to control direct hardware mixer, no dmix). My card is an external usb DAC, stating: `amixer -c Balanced` Simple mixer control 'D10 Balanced',0 Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined Playback channels: Mono Limits: Playback 0 - 127 Mono: Playback 34 [27%] [-93.00dB] [on] Limits are from 0 to 127. I would like to tune this manually so that anything using the card in the system will (for example) never go beyond 98 (and not 127). I noticed that this value is in /var/lib/alsa/asound.state. time to remove COPYING.GPL from alsa-plugins? (issue #45)

It seems the only thing in alsa-plugins that has a GPL license is rate/rate_samplerate.c, and that is due to the license of libsamplerate. But in 2016, libsamplerate dropped the commercial/GPL part of its license and was released with the 2-Clause BSD license. So I was wondering if the license for rate_samplerate.c can be updated to remove the GPL license, which means the COPYING.GPL file can also be removed from the alsa-plugins package? I have created issue #54 in github.com/alsa-project/alsa-plugins, but so far, no action. Should I submit a pull request?
