Hi PXA maintainers, I'm in the process of getting the old ARM platforms to all build in a single kernel. The largest part of that work is changing all the device drivers to no longer require mach/*.h header files. This series does it for arch/pxa/. As with the omap1 and s3c24xx series I sent before, I don't expect this all to be correct in the first version, though a lot of the patches are fairly simple and I did exhaustive compile-time testing on them. Please test if you have the hardware, or review! [PATCH 1/4] ALSA: hda/realtek: fix mute/micmute LEDs for HP 855 G8

The HP EliteBook 855 G8 Notebook PC is using ALC285 codec which needs ALC285_FIXUP_HP_MUTE_LED fixup to make it works. After applying the fixup, the mute/micmute LEDs work good. [PATCH] ALSA: pcm: comment about relation between msbits hw parameter and [S|U32] formats

Regarding to handling [U|S][32|24] PCM formats, many userspace application developers and driver developers have confusion, since they require them to understand justification or padding. It easily loses consistency and soundness to operate with many type of devices. In this commit, I attempt to solve the situation by adding comment about relation between [S|U]32 formats and 'msbits' hardware parameter. The formats are used for 'left-justified' sample format, and the available bit count in most significant bit is delivered to userspace in msbits hardware parameter (struct snd_pcm_hw_params.msbits), which is decided by msbits constraint added by pcm drivers (snd_pcm_hw_constraint_msbits()). In driver side, the msbits constraint includes two elements; the physical width of format and the available width of the format in most significant bit. The former is used to match SAMPLE_BITS of format. (For my convenience, I ignore wildcard in the usage of the constraint.) As a result of interaction between ALSA pcm core and ALSA pcm application, when the format in which SAMPLE_BITS equals to physical width of the msbits constaint, the msbits parameter is set by referring to the available width of the constraint. When the msbits parameter is not changed in the above process, ALSA pcm core set it alternatively with SAMPLE_BIT of chosen format. In userspace application side, the msbits is only available after calling ioctl(2) with SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_HW_PARAMS request. Even if the hardware parameter structure includes somewhat value of SAMPLE_BITS interval parameter as width of format, all of the width is not always available since msbits can be less than the width. I note that [S|U24] formats are used for 'right-justified' 24 bit sample formats within 32 bit frame. The first byte in most significant bit should be invalidated. Although the msbits exposed to userspace should be zero as invalid value, actually it is 32 from physical width of format. This is a series I worked on with Baolin in 2017 and 2018, but we never quite managed to finish up the last pieces. During the ALSA developer meetup at ELC-E 2018 in Edinburgh, a decision was made to go with this approach for keeping best compatibility with existing source code, and then I failed to follow up by resending the patches. Now I have patches for all remaining time_t uses in the kernel, so it's absolutely time to revisit them. I have done more review of the patches myself and found a couple of minor issues that I have fixed up, otherwise the series is still the same as before. Conceptually, the idea of these patches is: - 64-bit applications should see no changes at all, neither compile-time nor run-time. - 32-bit code compiled with a 64-bit time_t currently does not work with ALSA, and requires kernel changes and/or sound/asound.h changes - Most 32-bit code using these interfaces will work correctly on a modified kernel, with or without the uapi header changes. - 32-bit code using SNDRV_TIMER_IOCTL_TREAD requires the updated header file for 64-bit time_t support - 32-bit i386 user space with 64-bit time_t is broken for SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_STATUS, SNDRV_RAWMIDI_IOCTL_STATUS and SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_SYNC_PTR because of i386 alignment. This is also addressed by the updated uapi header. - PCM mmap is currently supported on native x86 kernels (both 32-bit and 64-bit) but not for compat mode. This series breaks the 32-bit native mmap support for 32-bit time_t, but instead allows it for 64-bit time_t on both native and compat kernels. This seems to be the best trade-off, as mmap support is optional already, and most 32-bit code runs in compat mode anyway. - I've tried to avoid breaking compilation of 32-bit code as much as possible. Anything that does break however is likely code that is already broken on 64-bit time_t and needs source changes to fix them. I hope I addressed all review comments by now, so please pull this for linux-5.6. A git branch with the same contents is available for testing at [1]. [REGRESSION] "ALSA: HDA: Early Forbid of runtime PM" broke my laptop's internal audio

Hi, On my System76 Gazelle Pro (gazp9) laptop, internal audio broke after upgrading to kernel 5.10. The laptop's speakers produce no sound. Audio from headphones still works fine. A quick test is to visit GNOME System Settings -> Sound -> Output, select Test, click Front Left or Front Right and notice there is no sound. I tested a mainline kernel revision from yesterday (5.11-rc5+) and the regression is not yet fixed. [PATCH 1/2] ALSA: hda: Release controller display power during shutdown/reboot

Make sure the HDA driver's display power reference is released during shutdown/reboot. During the shutdown/reboot sequence the pci device core calls the pm_runtime_resume handler for all devices before calling the driver's shutdown callback and so the HDA driver's runtime resume callback will acquire a display power reference (on HSW/BDW). This triggers a power reference held WARN on HSW/BDW in the i915 driver's subsequent shutdown handler, which expects all display power references to be released by that time. Since the HDA controller is stopped in the shutdown handler in any case, let's follow here the same sequence as the one during runtime suspend. This will also reset the HDA link and drop the display power reference, getting rid of the above WARN.
