To prevent NULL-dereference errors from occurring, adjust probe flow and append additional safety checks in functions involved in NHLT lifecycle. With _reset_link removed from the probe sequence, codec_mask at the time skl_find_hda_machine() is invoked will always be 0, so hda machine will never be chosen. Rather than reorganizing boot flow, be permissive about invalid mask. codec_mask will be set to proper value during probe_work - before skl_codec_create() ever gets called. Skylake driver does the controller init operation twice: - first during probe (only to stop it just before scheduling probe_work) - and during said probe_work where the actual correct sequence is executed To properly complete boot sequence when iDisp codec is present, bus initialization has to be called only after _i915_init() finishes. With additional _reset_list preceding _i915_init(), iDisp codec never gets the chance to enumerate on the link. Remove the superfluous initialization to address the issue. First six of the backport address numerous problems troubling HDAudio configuration users for Skylake driver. Upstream series: "ASoC: Intel: Skylake: Fix HDaudio and Dmic" [1] provides the explanation and reasoning behind it. These have been initialy pushed into v5.7-rc1 via: "sound updates for 5.7-rc1" [2] by Takashi. Last two patches are from: "Add support for different DMIC configurations" [3] which focuses on HDAudio with DMIC configuration. Patch: "ASoC: Intel: Skylake: Add alternative topology binary name" of the mentioned series has already been merged to v5.4.y -stable and thus it's not included here. The I2C and SPI version of the adau1372 driver respectively depend on the I2C and SPI framework being enabled. Otherwise compile or linker errors will occur when building the driver. Add the proper Kconfig dependencies to ensure that the drivers are only selectable if the required framework is enabled. This series updates Sameer's patch to repartition the graph card binding schema and incorporate the OF graph schema. The schema was also mixing card node and DAI node properties, so I've split the DAI part (the 'port' node) into a separate schema. There's another problem that 'frame-master' and 'bitclock-master' have inconsistent types of boolean and phandle. Having the properties just point to the local or remote endpoint within an endpoint node is kind of pointless. We should have gone with just boolean, but looks like we already have several users. MMP OLPC is the one platform using boolean, but it happens to work because the properties are effectively ignored and CPU DAI as the master is the default.
