Hi, in linux 5.0-rc there is a regression regarding snd_soc_simple_card. Since updated from 4.20 there is a new error appearing in the kernel log, although sound works fine and the system is stable. There is now no users of this flag so remove it together with related code. The chan_name field of snd_dmaengine_dai_dma_data data structure is not removed as it is still in use by the PXA platform. This is a rebased version with the build break fixed and added Krzysztof's Acks. My apologies, I double checked there is no build errors between patches this time. Below is cover letter text from v2. This series restores support for the secondary CPU DAI in samsung/i2s.c driver and adds support for secondary CPU DAI on Odroid boards. I have added 4 more clean up patches comparing to first version of the patch set (16/22...19/22). The first patch adds new platform device for the secondary PCM, I tried to avoid registering new platform device in probe() as it doesn't play well with deferred probing but couldn't find a way to avoid that new device, unique devices are needed to register "PCM" components for each CPU DAI. Patches 2/21...11/21 are mostly a clean up, following conversion to single component with multiple DAIs, allowing to reference both primary/secondary DAI in DT. The patch set has been tested on Odroid U3, XU3, XU4 and Mini2440 (s3c2440 non-DT) boards. This patch set updates the driver to be more flexible regarding the BCLK and TDM configurations of the device. Previously the BCLK rate was fixed at 64 periods per WCLK, when the codec is DAI clock master, but to satisfy devices which prefer a lower rate, and to save power, the BCLK rate is now calculated based on hw_params() data. As a fallout of the BCLK efforts it was also apparent that the TDM code could be made more flexible as well. The device is capable of automatically detecting the BCLK rate when it is clock slave, so previous limitations imposed were not necessary. The mask handling is now used as an input to determine the BCLK offset to align closer with other examples within ALSA. The patch ASoC: da7219: Update TDM usage to be more flexible has been applied to the asoc tree at https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound.git All being well this means that it will be integrated into the linux-next tree (usually sometime in the next 24 hours) and sent to Linus during the next merge window (or sooner if it is a bug fix), however if problems are discovered then the patch may be dropped or reverted. The codec is able to automatically determine and handle whatever rate is provided so this restriction isn't necessary for slave mode. The code was also flawed with regards to setting of the frame offset as using rx_mask to explicitly set the offset has the knock on effect of impacting the min and max channels for the codec, in soc_pcm_hw_params() through the call to soc_pcm_codec_params_fixup(). With this update, the driver now only limits frame size if codec is clock master, and dynamically determines the BCLK offset relating to WCLK using the tx_mask for slot offset along with the slot width provided. This patch series introduces the support for Intel devices (Baytrail, CherryTrail, Broadwell/Haswell, ApolloLake, GeminiLake, CannonLake, IceLake). Support for Skylake and KabyLake is incomplete at the moment but the basic building blocks required are already present. The series starts with the 'legacy' devices, then all the more recent ones and concludes with ACPI/PCI hooks. SKL+ platforms can be compiled without HDaudio link/codec support, in which case the hdac library is not used. When support for HDMI or HDaudio codecs is selected, parts of this library are used. The machine drivers supported by SOF are not provided as part of this series. The build will only work in 'nocodec' mode for now. Support for SPI-based devices, compressed streams is also not provided for now since it's not ready for upstream just yet.
