A bug was filed to bugzilla.kernel.org for a quirk of some models which ALSA BeBoB driver supports. Bug 199365 - repeating bus resets on Firewire bus with Focusrite Saffaire 26/io https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199365 Some models (two models as long as I know) have a quirk to disappear from IEEE 1394 bus at disconnections of packet streaming. Corresponding character devices are removed according to 'remove' callbacks of relevant drivers from Linux dd core. Then the models re-appear on the bus by generating bus resets and corresponding character devices are added according to 'probe' callbacks from Linux dd core. In a view of ALSA applications, this looks that plug-out/plug-in occur in a sequential order for the models when they stop playback/capture substream. For most applications, this doesn't cause large issue. However, this quirk is not good for combination of below modules in PulseAudio. PulseAudio enters endless loop to detect the models and start/stop PCM substream. - module-udev-detect - module-alsa-card - module-suspend-on-idle In detail, please read my comment no.6: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199365#c6 This commit suppressed udev detection of sound card for the issued models. For the models, 'PULSE_IGNORE' flag is added to udev rules, then module-udev-detect don't handle the models and PulseAudio never uses the models automatically. In a scenario for users to load module-alsa-card/module-alsa-sink/module-alsa-source by hand, although these modules can still stop PCM substreams with module-suspend-on-idle, PulseAudio never enters the endless loop because udev detection doesn't work for the models. In this case, as long as special files for ALSA character devices for these models are the same, corresponding sinks and sources are available even if the voluntary plug-out/plug-in occur. Hi All, Here is a set of patches to the bytcr-rt5651 UCM profiles. This series also adds a bunch of long-name profiles so that users automatically only see the inputs / outputs which their device actually has. The long-names are based on the long-names set by the kernel after the rt5651 patch series which is currently queued in -next: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound.git/log/?h=fo… With these UCM profile patches and the kernel changes in place all inputs and outputs as well as jack-detect will work 100% OOTB on supported bytcr-rt5651 devices, without the user needing to do any manual config or mixer settings. Currently, in the SoundWire subsystem, the concept of stream is limited to a Master and one or more Slaves(Codecs). This series aims to add support for multiple Master(s) sharing the same reference clock and synchronized in the hardware. This patch series adds: - Fix to avoid duplicate stream state assignment - Avoid incorrect stream release after configuring Master - Fix to avoid bus lock acquired twice - Helpers to lock bus instances part of the stream - Boiler plate conversion of code to support a list of Master runtime - Support multi link bank switch to support synchronization between multiple masters - Add Intel platform ops for pre/post bank switch Additionally, as suggested by Vinod, the generic fixes are arranged at the top of the series followed by the Documentation patch for multi link support and then the multi link patches. changes in v8: - Check both m_rt_count and bus->multi_link flag for clean up after single instance bankswitch as suggested by Pierre. changes in v7: - Fix the git bisect issue pointed by Pierre. On certain platforms, Display HDMI HDA codec was not going to sleep state after the use when links are powered down after turning off the display power. As per the HW recommendation, links are powered down before turning off the display power to ensure that the codec goes to sleep state. Many Intel platforms (SKL, KBL) etc. in the market supports enhanced audio capabilities which also includes DSP processing. The default HDaudio legacy driver does not allow for the use of the DSP, this patch set makes it possible while reusing existing code for HDAudio codecs and without significant changes to the legacy driver. This v5 is based on Takashi's topic/drm_audio_component merged on top on Marks' for-next branch - the merge is not included here. Tests were run successfully on multiple platforms (Dell XPS13, KBL NUC, APL NUC and LeafHill reference board). Both the HDaudio and HDMI outputs were tested. Credits: all the initial code was written by Rakesh Ughreja, the rebase to broonie/for-next, cleanups and additional tests were done by Pierre Bossart. There are cases where a pointer function populates runtime->delay, such as: ./sound/pci/hda/hda_controller.c ./sound/soc/intel/atom/sst-mfld-platform-pcm.c Also, in some cases cpu dai used is generic and the pcm driver needs to set delay. This delay was getting lost and was overwritten by delays from codec or cpu dai delay function if exposed.
