The WM5102 and WM8997 codecs have an internal dynamic clock booster. When this booster is active, the DCVDD voltage must be increased. If all the currently active audio paths can run with the root SYSCLK we can disable the booster, allowing us to turn down DCVDD voltage to save power. Previously this was being done by having the booster enable bit set as a side-effect of the LDO1 regulator driver, which is unexpected behaviour of a regulator and not compatible with using an external regulator. This patch exports functions to handle the booster enable and DCVDD voltage, with each relevant subsystem flagging whether it can currently run without the booster. Note that these subsystems are stateless and none of them are nestable, so there's no need for reference counting, we only need a simple boolean for each subsystem of whether their current condition could require the booster or will allow us to turn the codec down to lower operating power. Nothing in asm/io.h uses anything from vmalloc.h, so remove the include and fix up the build problems in an allmodconfig (64 bit and 32 bit) build. This may be the place where x86 builds get vmalloc.h implicitly included and that tends to hide places where vmalloc() et al are added to files but the include of vmalloc.h is forgotten. This patch series updates ALSA driver to use media controller API to share tuner with DVB and V4L2 drivers that control AU0828 media device. Two new interfaces are added to media controller API to enable creating media device as a device resource. This allows creating media device as a device resource on the main struct device that is common to all drivers that control a single media hardware and share resources on it. Drivers then can find the common media device to register entities and manage links, and pipelines. Tested with and without CONFIG_MEDIA_CONTROLLER enabled. Tested tuner entity doesn't exist case as au0828 v4l2 driver is the one that will create the tuner when it gets updated to use media controller API. Please note that au0828 updates media controller are necessary before the resource sharing can work across ALSA and au0828 dvb and v4l2 drivers. The dapm field of the snd_soc_codec struct is eventually going to be removed, in preparation for this replace all manual access to codec->dapm.bias_level with snd_soc_codec_get_bias_level() and replace all other manual access to codec->dapm with snd_soc_codec_get_dapm(). Hello, Currently i'm trying to override the default behavior when headphones are plugged, We actually need to play audio under certain situations, and one of the use cases is when the headphones are connected, but a sound needs to be played over the speakers, so someone else is aware of what's happening. We're thinking about using a GPIO that it's available from our application or a simple module parameter, but the problem i'm facing right now is: 1: Where to specify that particular path or the behavior i need, i've been looking at [2], and adding a SOC_DAPM_PIN_SWITCH[1] but doesn't matter what the state is, if the headphones are on, i can't turn on the speakers to play sounds at the same time. i'm able to do it, by disabling the hp detection pin, and controlling the audio over udev events. so i'm pretty sure that it would be possible to do this, with the hp detection pin. which takes us to #2: 2: How can i trigger an event based on the change of a module parameter or a gpio port (Thinking both would be the same)... i've tried to alter hp_event <http://lxr.free-electrons.com/ident?v=3.16;i=hp_event> without any success... even returning 0 on any event and still nothing, which drives me to belive that i'm doing something completely wrong AND the codec/driver is among the last ones to get notified of the presence of the hp The idea is: if override port or parameter is set to true, trigger the audio override and play sound on Speaker and HP at the same time. right now i'm working with imx-wm8962 driver and the matching codec, http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2011-February/036370.h… [1] http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2010-December/035055.h… [2] Thanks in advance! -- Santiago Zarate http://foursixnine.io “Dreams permit each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.” - William Dement

[alsa-devel] Audio play problem with tlv320aic3106 in mainline.

Dear all, Recently I sent some patches to add support for a new board based on AM335x processor [1]. The board has the TLV320AIC3106 audio codec, the MCLK signal is provided by an external oscillator of 12MHz. The problem is that when I play a wav file for example I heard the song a double speed. This is with v4.0 and current mainline. In dts file I defined "ti,codec-clock-rate = <12000000>;" which is the correct value. Curiously when I changed the clock rate value to 24000000 I heard the song at normal speed. AFAIK the correct value for clock-rate is 12MHz so I suspect that something is wrong in the driver, maybe it sets a wrong clock divider/multiplier ? Anyone can point me in the right direction to fix the issue ? I see that am335x-evm and am335x-pepper boards also uses this audio codec, did anyone with those boards have the same problem? Hello, I'm looking about examples in alsa-lib-1.0.29/test/ I have two questions about: pcm.c line 71: In case of a FLOAT format, maxval is 1.0, isn't it? pcm_min.c lin 79: Variable err does not refers to the previous call? Did I understood well? Best regards Christophe
