There is no need to repeat the work that is already done in the PCI driver core. The patch removes excerpts from suspend and resume callbacks. Note that there is no more calls performed to enable or disable a PCI device during suspend-resume cycle. Nowadays they seems to be superflous. Someone can read more in [1]. [alsa-devel] Persisting background noise on HDA Intel PCH (ALC3232)

Hello all, On my Thinkpad x240, I am experiencing exactly the same bug as someone on the x230 [0], that is I get clearly audible background noise on headphone and speaker outputs unless I mute the Headphone/Speaker control or Master. In both cases, a Realtek ALC on a Thinkpad is involved. I have attached the alsa-info.sh output. The problems occur with plain ALSA output, Jack or Pulse are not involved. I have tried all suggestions mentioned in [0], and also tested all available ALC-related model= parameters to snd_hda_intel, but the issue persists. Muting all mixers on all cards didn't change anything either. Other Thinkpad laptops with the ALC3232 codec are also affected by this bug, for example [1]. The bug makes the audio output unuseable for any serious purpose. I would be very grateful if somebody could look into this (again?), and also assist as far as I can. [alsa-devel] [PATCH 1/3] ASoC: Add helper function for changing the DAI link format

For some setups it is necessary to change the DAI link format at runtime. This patch factors out the code that does the initial static DAI link format configuration into a separate helper function which can be used board drivers as well. This allows board drivers that have to change the DAI link format at runtime to reuse it instead of having to manually change the format on all DAIs. As discussed on the topic of shmobile DMA today, jz4740 is the only user of the slave_id field in dma_slave_config besides shmobile. This use is really incompatible with the way that other drivers use the dmaengine API, so we should get rid of it. This adds a trivial filter function that uses the filter param to pass the dma type, and uses that in both drivers. With this patch and the respective shmobile change, we can remove the slave_id field from dma_slave_config. To make the drivers more generic, another patch would be required that passes the filter function and the argument through platform_data, but that can be done later.
