Hi, alsa-devel Platform: S3C6410, WM9713G codec with AC'97, Linux kernel 2.6.36. ALSL 1.0.23 lib and utils. Test process: 1. aplay WAV file is good working #aplay -D 'hw:0,0' -c 2 /opt/music.wav 2. arecord WAV file from Line in is good working. #arecord -D 'hw:0,0' -r 48000 -f S16_LE -c 2 | aplay -D 'hw:0,0' -c 2 & 3. Recording sound from microphone isn't good working that playback sound is distortion. #arecord -D 'hw:0,0' -r 48000 -f S16_LE -c 2 | aplay -D 'hw:0,0' -c 2 & or #arecord -d 10 -fdat test2.wav I hear the sound is very distortion and low. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If I excute "amixer cset numid=9 3; amixer cset numid=7 31; amixer cset numid=87 on; amixer cset numid=6 31,31" command, and then volume is high. [alsa-devel] Clock generators in ASoC setups

Hi Mark and Liam, some board I'm working on feature chips (connected via I2C) that are in charge of generating clocks for both the CPU DAI and the codecs. Previously, I configured them manually in platform specific code, but I wonder if there's a better, more generic way to get the job done, especially with regards to DT driven boards? Thanks, Daniel

It doesn't show anything when that happens. [alsa-devel] [ALC882/883/885/888/889] Problems with snd-hda-intel after 3.1.6 and the FIX

Hello, As i can't reach bugtracker (is it down, or problem on my side?), i'll post here. Though there is already few open bugs there i saw. I just found temp solution. Bug itslef: After updating to greater version of kernel than 3.1.6 speakers stoped working anymore on most vaio z and similar models, though there is still sound through headphones. (ithere are a lot of people reporting it on different distro bug trackers and forums as well) My specific cards are 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05) 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev ff) The only solution was to use model=generic, but than most of features wouldn't work.(plugin jack automute, missing most settings in alsamixer). Solution: And as bug was reported for a long time, i waited through kernel updates to fix it. But yesterday as i updated to 3.5 it was still there. And as 3.5 has fewer models for [ALC882/883/885/888/889], as my card is ALC889 i just tried all 3 of them, and it seems everyting working when setting model=acer-aspire-8930g (cant and didn't try HDMI out). Hello everyone. I am a developer for Mixxx, GPL cross-platform digital DJ software: http://www.mixxx.org. My focus is the controller subsystem. I am ready to finally add Linux support for HSS1394 DJ controllers such as Stanton's SCS.1m and SCS.1d. HSS1394 is just MIDI over IEEE1394 (Firewire) at wire speed. The Windows and OSX library source code is LGPL and available on LaunchPad here: https://launchpad.net/hss1394 The Stanton SCS.1m is a sound interface integrated with a two-way control surface that speaks HSS1394. (The sound card uses an Oxford chip set and works fine with FFADO 2.0.1 today up to 96kHz. I use it with Mixxx via JACK.) The Stanton SCS.1d is a two-way control surface (no sound card) that speaks HSS1394 and is capable of sending ALOT of latency-sensitive data: about 4000 messages per platter rotation. (Now imagine if you had four or even two of them on the same network running at +50% speed. This would quickly overwhelm USB, at least at the time these devices were designed.) Read about them here: http://www.stantondj.com/stanton-controllers-systems/system1.html After a lengthy discussion on the FFADO mailing list, we determined that the best (cleanest and most flexible) way to get Linux support for these devices is to write an ALSA kernel driver that speaks HSS1394 with the devices and presents an ALSA MIDI device (with no data rate limits) for each to Linux applications. The advantage of doing this is that the devices will appear to all MIDI applications without them having to have specific support for HSS1394. This means they could be used in DAW applications as well. (FWIW, FFADO trunk has a program called test-scs that does exactly this, but using that is impractical because it depends on various internal parts of the FFADO source so would require bundling all of FFADO with the application, and it's unable to see non-audio devices due to FFADO's intended use (so it sees the SCS.1m but not the .1d.)) So my questions are: where can I find documentation on writing a new MIDI driver for ALSA? And is anyone else interested in helping me do this? Thank you very much for your time and work. Hi, I have started working on Audio support for TI AM335x SOC. It uses the same McASP IP as in Davinci platform. The mcasp driver (davinci-pcm) uses SRAM api's. Currently OMAP & Davinci have their own allocation systems, and both with their own ways of copying functions into the SRAM. A Patch was floating in the ML which supported merging this functionality as a unified consolidated sram support. https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/961222/ However I believe the patch was not accepted and I couldn't find any updates on it later. Can someone give me some pointers about the status for this patch or If there has been any update on this? Is anyone working on this consolidation? Thanks & Regards Gururaja

[alsa-devel] Shipping UCM configuration files in upstream alsa-lib

Hi, It seems that there are no UCM configuration files in the alsa-lib tarball (or am I not looking hard enough?). Has it been decided that alsa-lib should not ship with UCM configuration files, or is it just that nobody has so far submitted such files for inclusion? I'm about to start learning about UCM by writing some configuration files for the Nokia N900, and I'd like to get those files eventually to upstream. I think it makes sense to ship the UCM files in upstream, because that way when you port a new Linux distribution on a piece of hardware, there's a better chance for audio to "just work". And even if Mer (which I'm using) will be the only distribution that is going to be interested in the UCM files for N900, Mer can avoid maintaining any patches on top of alsa-lib if everything is in upstream. -- Tanu
