[alsa-devel] [PATCHES] Integrate minimal systemd support in alsa-utils

Heya, Up to this point most distributions have been using different init scripts/udev rules files to save/restore mixer settings at boot/hotplug/shutdown. Please see my two attached patches for alsa-utils which add standardized, simplified support for this. The first patch is stolen from Debian/Ubuntu, which moves asound.state to /var/lib, which is a more appropriate place, since /etc might be read-only. The second patch includes a minimal udev rule (executed synchronously, enabled on all systems, regardless of systemd is used or not) and two systemd service files (executed asynchronously at boot/shutdown, only enabled if built with systemd support). Given that most big distributions are moving to adopt systemd sooner or later it would be great to have support for this in the upstream package to avoid further balkanization how things are done here. Hi , i am doing usb audio streaming using usb audio class interface . our application is OSS based , uses OSS calls to interact with linux audio driver . Our device is capture only device . we want to flush kernel input pcm buffer without using close() system call . does OSS supports in userspace any ioctl call which can flush kernel pcm buffer at any time . right now we have to close audio-fd and open audio-fd again . how we can flush kernel input pcm buffer without using close system call in based OSS application regards Amit Nagal

Greetings, There is only a single mic on this netbook. However, the alsa device shows up as stereo, and the right channel carries an inverted copy of the left channel. So when the two channels are summed to make a mono (e.g. for telephony, or playback on mono internal speaker) it appears that there is no signal. Is there a way to "cure" this problem in the driver? I can think of * Force internal mic capture to be mono (left only) * Copy left to right capture * Invert right capture but don't know how easy any are to implement. Hi, A while ago I asked for the default/expected behaviour for auto-mute. Here's the same question for mics: If there are two mic jacks, e g one on the front and one on the back, is the standard/default behaviour that we should: 1) Show one mic only and add auto-switch functionality, and if so, what should determine which mic takes precedence? 2) Show both mics and let the user choose between them? 3) Show both mics, two volume control and let the user mix both signals together (when possible)? -- David Henningsson, Canonical Ltd. http://launchpad.net/~diwic

Somehow I pulled the latest and greatest code alsa-kmirror and alsa-driver, and the compilation now fails. ./gitcompile yells about a problematic patch on pcm_native.c.
