Hello, I am to write an ALSA driver for my SOC which has a dedicated DSP subsystem which can be loaded with decoder instructions and parameteres, and then we load it with encoded data. The dsp then decodes the data and sends it to the PCM controller. Could someone please refer me to some similar driver/codec which already does that? If not, how should i design the driver? :- Should I load the encoder inst/params using firmware API? Then, which API should I use to submit encoded data to the DSP? Any pointers please? Thanks.

The MAX9877 combines a high-efficiency Class D audio power amplifier with a stereo Class AB capacitor-less DirectDrive headphone amplifier. The max9877_add_controls() is called to register the MAX9877 specific controls on machine specific init() of the machine driver. Hi, I'm trying to get meaningful voice from ALSA buffer. I read tutorial on http://www.suse.de/~mana/alsa090_howto.html<http://www.suse.de/%7Emana/alsa090_howto.html>and realize that if alsa use 16 bit format value then I have to byte shift to store it in 8 bit unsigned char buffer. I see this in sine wave generator in tutorial. To confirm it, I try to save the output into file and open it in Matlab. I want to know if this is correct, because when I try saving alsa buffer on a from recording I still get noise not the voice. Thank you.
