Without forcing model type to 6stack-dig, the user gets no sound. Patch is attached, and alsa-info.sh output is at http://pastebin.ca/1023781. Changelog: Added IDs for the Foxconn P35AX-S mainboard to patch_realtek.c, so that ALC883_6ST_DIG is used by default. Hi All I was wondering if there is any more news in regard to the development effort toward supporting the RME HDSP RPM? The last couple of emails I could find on the development were from Karl Grill (please see below). Does anyone know if Karl (or anyone else) is still working on this? From your dmesg here's the problem. HDA Intel: probe of 0000:00:1b.0 failed with error -16 I'm not a developer so I don't know what that means, just that it is not good. I think this is an issue for some hda-intel cards in kernel version 2.6.25. In the cases I have seen the card was working on the 24 version kernel, but when they moved to 25 it stopped working. That is, it's a regression. I don't think there is anything you can do until the problem is fixed there. Using the earlier kernel is probably not possible with the rest of the system. I don't know this, but suspect it. You could try compiling an earlier kernel on your system. I'll cross post this to the alsa-devel mailing list so the developers become aware of the problem.

Hello all, I did some more experimenting, this time with a stock Debian 2.6.18-6-686 SMP kernel and alsa-driver 10.0.16 source. This is on a 32 bit machine and the problem happens here as well. What I've noticed is that prior to the whole machine crashing (about 2 or 3 seconds), I get a number of "ALSA /home/benjamin/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore/../alsa-kernel/core/pcm_lib.c:1471: BUG? (runtime != ((void *)0))?" lines on my console. After that, the kernel panics completely. This line is causes by the assertion 'snd_assert(runtime != NULL, return);' failing in the snd_pcm_period_elapsed function of pcm_lib.c Any ideas?
